NBA Picks: New York Knicks at Houston Rockets
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The New York Knicks will look to snap out of their recent funk when they visit the Houston Rockets Wednesday night. New York has lost three straight and four of their last five. Tip-off is set for 8:30 ET at the Toyota Center.
New York lost 129-121 at home against the Suns on Monday, and for a team that was playing so well earlier in the season, they are now just three games above .500.
Houston will look to keep things going, as they beat the Bucks 93-84 on Monday for their second straight win. Houston had lost seven of their previous eight games before winning at Atlanta on Saturday.
Taking a look at the NBA spreads for this game, oddsmakers have to the Rockets favored by 2.5-points over the Knicks with the total sitting at 219.5.

New York loss at home to the Suns despite the fact that they got 41 points from Amare Stoudemire. Wilson Chandler scored 23 points, and Danilo Gallinari returned the lineup to score 17 points. Raymond Felton had 13 assists in the game, but only managed seven points.
While New York shot 49% from the field, they were out rebounded 48-38 and struggled to take care of the basketball. Getting a win at Houston hasn’t been an easy task for the Knicks. They have lost five straight at the Toyota Center and 11 of the last 12 in the series.
Houston got another big night offensively from Kevin Martin in their latest win over the Bucks. Martin had a game-high 36 points on 11 of 23 shooting. Luis Scola had 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Jordan Hill came off the bench to score 10 points. No other player had more than seven points for the Rockets. Martin and Scola combined for 52 points against the Knicks earlier this season.
While the Rockets came away with the win, I think they would like to see a more balanced scoring attack. Aaron Brooks had just five points after going off for 24 points and 10 assists against the Hawks, and Houston really needs him to provide energy and scoring off the bench.
While the Rockets have dominated the Knicks, I think New York is a great play against the spread tonight. New York is 16-5 ATS on the road this season, and 11-1 ATS as a road underdog of 6 points or less this season. The Knicks will come out ready to go after losing three straight, and while Houston has won two straight, they have lost four of their last five at home.
