NBA Picks: New York Knicks at Phoenix Suns
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The Phoenix Suns will look to snap out of their recent funk when they host the New York Knicks tonight. It will be the first game for Amare Stoudemire against his former team, as he decided to not re-sign with the Suns to become the go to guy in New York. So far it looks as though the decision has worked out well for Stoudemire and the Knicks, as they improved to 20-14 with their most recent 128-115 win over the San Antonio Spurs. As for the Suns they have lost six of their last seven games, with the most being a 99-95 loss at home against the Lakers. Our NBA spreads have the Suns favored by 2.5-points over the Knicks with the total sitting at 219.5.

The Knicks come in off their most impressive win of the season, as they really took it to the Spurs at home. Wilson Chandler led the way with 31 points, while Amare Stoudemire and Raymond Felton each had 28 points.
Stoudemire is putting up monster numbers as a Knick this season, averaging 26.4 points, nine rebounds a game, but Stoudemire is also making a difference defensively. Over the last five games he is averaging 3.4 blocks, making it very difficult for guys to score down low.
No question Stoudemire is going to come out with a ton of energy in this game, as you know he wants nothing more than to go into Phoenix and beat the team that didn’t want to pony up and give him the contract he deserved.
The key for the Suns is simple, find a way to slow Stoudemire down, but I don’t know if the Suns have anyone capable of shutting him down. That means the Suns are going to have to keep up with the Knicks and try and out score them.
New York doesn’t bring much of a threat defensively as they are right behind the Suns, allowing 106.5 points a game, so look for Phoenix to have a much better showing offensively in this one. The Suns haven’t scored 100 points in each of their last three games, and if they don’t get to that mark tonight, they don’t have a chance against the Knicks.
I think you have to take the Knicks to go into Phoenix and win this game. Stoudemire is going to make sure New York comes to play in this one, and I just don’t think the Suns have enough offensively right now to keep up with New York. I kinda like the Knicks on the moneyline in this one, but if you want to be safe take the 2.5-points.
