NBA Picks: New York Knicks at San Antonio Spurs

Written by -

The San Antonio Spurs will look to extend their seven-game winning streak when they host the New York Knicks tonight at the AT&T Center. The Knicks beat the Spurs 128-116 back on Jan. 4 at New York, ending the Spurs short four-game streak.

Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s game, oddsmakers have the Spurs favored by 8.5-points over the Knicks with the total sitting at 212.5. Check out if one of our experts put a play out on this game in our NBA free picks section.

New York has really struggled to get things going lately. The Knicks lost 104-89 at Houston on Wednesday for their four straight loss, and are just 6-10 since opening the season 16-9. The biggest problem for the Knicks has been their inability to stop the opposing team defensively. New York is allowing 114 points a game during their four game losing streak, and until they get things figured out they are going to have a hard time winning games.

Amare Stoudemire continues to do everything he can to help this team win. Stoudemire is averaging 27 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and 1.8 blocks over his last five games, but hasn’t had much luck with the rest of his team showing up on either side of the ball.

Raymond Felton is really struggling offensively right now, over his last five games he is averaging just 13.4 points and is shooting just 31.5% from the field. Felton is still averaging nearly 10 assists a game, but he needs to be more of a factor scoring the basketball.

Wilson Chandler had 31 points against the Spurs in their earlier matchup, and could really use another big night from him tonight. The Knicks could also use a big night from Danilo Gallinari, who missed the first game against the Spurs with an injury. Gallinari is averaging 14 points in his last two games since returning to the lineup.

The Spurs turned what looked like was going to be a loss into an easy win Wednesday night, as they erased an 11-point halftime deficit and turned it into a 104-95 win.

Manu Ginobili had 23 points, despite shooting just 4-13 from the field, DeJuan Blair had another nice game with 22 points and 11 rebounds, Tony Parker chipped in 17, and Tim Duncan record a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

It just seems like the Spurs always have one or two guys that step up and help this team win on a given night, and its a big reason why they are off to one of the best starts in league history. San Antonio can’t be happy with the way the Knicks made them look earlier this season, and it will be interesting to see if they can slow them down this time around.

While I think the Spurs will win this game, I still I think you have to take the Knicks at +8.5, as they have been one of the top road teams against the spread all season, and I think their uptempo offense gives the Spurs some trouble.
