NBA Spreads: Detroit Pistons at Cleveland Cavaliers
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The Detroit Pistons will try and extend the Cleveland Cavaliers record losing streak to 26 games when the two teams face off at Quicken Loans Arena Wednesday night. This is the second of four meetings between these two teams. Detroit won 102-92 at home back on Dec. 5.
Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s game, oddsmakers actually have the Cavaliers favored by 1-point over the Pistons with the total set at 196.
The Pistons hung in there with the Spurs last night, but ended up losing the game 100-89, ending a two game losing streak. Detroit has really struggled on the road this season, going just 6-21.
Cleveland has to have a bit of confidence after nearly ending their streak in their last game against the Mavericks. Cleveland ended up losing the game 99-96, but had their chance to win the game late.

The Pistons put up 51 points in the first half against the Spurs, and only trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter, but just didn’t have enough to close out strong and win the game.
Detroit got just 41 points from their starting five against the Spurs, and you simply aren’t going to win many games with that kind of production. Will Bynum led Detroit with 21 points in just 23 minutes, while Rodney Stuckey and Austin Daye each had 10 as a reserve.
Just one game after Richard Hamilton got back on the court for the Pistons, he was back on the bench for the game against San Antonio, but this time it was because of a groin injury he suffered against the Bucks. Hamilton is listed as questionable for tonight’s game, and he won’t upset Cleveland if he doesn’t play. Hamilton had a game-high 27 the last two times these two teams faced off.
The way the Cavaliers played against the Mavericks lets you know that these guys are sick and tired of losing and are going to do whatever it takes to try and end this streak.
Cleveland has three great chances to do just that. If they don’t get it done tonight against the Pistons, they host Los Angeles on Friday and the Wizards on Sunday. Washington is currently 0-25 on the road.
J.J. Hickson led the charge for Cleveland against Dallas with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Ramon Sessions scored 19 and dished out 18 assists, Antawn Jamison put in 18 and grabbed 11 boards, while Christian Eyenga chipped in 15.
A lot of people will likely jump on the Pistons +1, but I think the oddsmakers are up to something. Even before the line came out, I liked Cleveland to win this game, and at pretty much a pick’em I think you have to take the Cavaliers to end the streak tonight.
