NBA Spreads: New Jersey Nets at Memphis Grizzlies
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The Memphis Grizzlies will attempt to win their third straight at home when they take on the New Jersey Nets tonight. The Grizzlies nearly pulled off a big win on Saturday against the Spurs, as they fell 112-106 in overtime and were without their leading scorer Rudy Gay, who was serving his one-game suspension. The Nets come in off an impressive 89-82 win over the Hawks for their second win in their last three games. Looking at the NBA spreads for tonight’s games the oddsmakers have the Grizzlies favored by 6-points over the Nets at home.

The Nets will go for their first two winning streak of the season tonight, but getting that second win will be a quite a challenge. New Jersey hasn’t won a road game in 10 tries, and has been absolutely awful away from home the past two season.
Devin Harris has really picked up his game lately, and is going to need to have another big time performance for the Nets to pull off the upset tonight. Harris is averaging 19 points and just under 8 assists over the Nets last five games. Harris averaged 22.5 points against the Grizzlies last season.
The only problem is Harris is really the only scoring option this team has on a consistent basis, and if the rest of the team doesn’t shoot well, the Nets have no chance at all of winning.
The Grizzlies are 8-5 at home this season, including wins over both the Heat and the Lakers. Memphis has been playing much better since they lost five straight from Nov. 10 – No.19.
O.J. Mayo really stepped it up for the Grizzlies against the Spurs on Saturday, as he stepped in to start for Gay. Mayo hit a 3-pointer with 21 seconds left to force overtime, and led the Grizzlies with 27 points. Mayo will however likely return to the bench, as the Grizzlies have been much better when he provides a spark off the bench.
The Grizzlies have to be excited that they get Gay back tonight, as he averaged 25 points a game in two wins over the Nets last season.
I really like the Grizzlies to not only win this game, but I think they are a solid choice against the spread. New Jersey has last their last seven road games by at least six points, and with the spread sitting right at six, I think you have to take your chances on the Grizzlies. Memphis is 10-2 ATSĀ after playing a road game this season.
