NBA Spreads: Los Angeles Clippers at Cleveland Cavaliers

Written by -

The Cleveland Cavaliers will once again try to put an end to their losing streak when they host the Los Angeles Clippers Friday night. The Cavaliers come in having lost 26 straight, and are just one win away from setting a professional sports record with 27 straight defeats. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.

Our NBA spreads have to the Clippers favored by 4-points over the Cavaliers with the total set at 207.5.

The Clippers were able to snap their four-game losing streak with a 116-108 win at New York on Wednesday. Los Angeles has lost eight straight to the Cavaliers, but that stat really doesn’t matter, because those wins came with LeBron James in Cleveland and no Blake Griffin in Los Angeles.

The Cavaliers couldn’t have imagined it would go this bad without James this season. Cleveland extended its losing streak with a 103-94 loss at home to the Pistons on Wednesday, and if they continue to play like the did against Detroit, they might not win another game all season.

The Clippers had one of their best all-around offensive performances of the season against the Knicks. Blake Griffin had just 21 points and six rebounds, but the Clippers had six different players score at least 16 points.

Randy Foye continued to play well while filling in for the injured Eric Gordon. Foye had a team-high 24 points on 8-15 shooting against the Knicks. The Clippers also got 16 points and 16 assists from veteran point guard Baron Davis and 16 points and eight boards from Eric Bledsoe off the bench.

Look for the Clippers offense to keep rolling against the Cavaliers. Cleveland has allowed 100 or more in all but games during their current skid.

The Cavaliers have continued to keep the games close lately. Four of their last five games have been decided by seven-points or less, but you almost have to wonder if this team isn’t looking forward to their game against the Wizards on Sunday. Washington appears to be the best chance for Cleveland to win, as they are 0-25 away from home.

The Cavaliers got 22 points from Antawn Jamison, 20 points and 12 assists from Ramon Sessions, and 18 points and 15 boards from J.J. Hickson. The Cavaliers also got 12 points off the bench from Daniel Gibson.

Cleveland ended up shooting 51.4% from the field, while holding Detroit to just 43.3%, but turned the ball over 17 times, and allowed the Pistons to grab 17 offensive rebounds.

As bad as Cleveland wants to end this streak, opposing teams are playing just as hard to make sure they aren’t the ones who allowed them to do it. I think you have to roll with the Clippers and lay the points in this one.
