NBA Spreads: Memphis Grizzlies at Minnesota Timberwolves

Written by -

The Memphis Grizzlies will try and win their fourth straight overall when they visit the Minnesota Timberwolves Wednesday night. Our NBA spreads currently have the Grizzlies favored by 2.5-points with the total set at 210.5.

Memphis comes into the game off a 100-97 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday. With the win the Grizzlies were able to move one-game over .500 at 25-24.

The Timberwolves were able to snap a six game losing streak with a 103-87 win at home against the Raptors on Saturday, but it was just their second win in their last 13 games.

The Grizzlies have really been playing some solid basketball of late, and it was a complete team-effort against the Magic. Mike Conley led the way with 26 points and 11 assists, but all five starters scored in double figures, and Darrell Arthur came off the bench to score 14 points in just 19 minutes of work.

For Memphis to beat at team like Orlando with just 23 points combined from Zach Randolph and Rudy Gay, that is really saying a lot about how well this team is playing. They key for Memphis will be keeping up with the fresh legs of Minnesota, as the Timberwolves have had three days off between playing the Raptors and this game.

Minnesota once again got a strong performance from Kevin Love, as the power forward recorded his 42nd double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds in just 24 minutes. Many of the starters didn’t play a whole lot, because this game was out of reach early.

Martell Webster dropped 15 off the bench, and Wesley Johnson added 14, but Minnesota shot just 43.8% on the game, despite winning by 16 points. Toronto really helped the Timberwolves out by shooting just 33.7%, but don’t expect the defense to continue to carry the load. Minnesota is allowing 108.6 points a game this season, and will have their hands full trying to contain the Grizzlies.

With that I think you have to lay the 2.5-points and bet the Grizzlies to not only win but cover in this game. Minnesota will likely keep it close, but getting Memphis at less than 3-point favorite is worth the risk every time. Minnesota’s last three wins have came against Toronto, Washington, and New Jersey, not exactly much to talk about.
