NBA Spreads: Miami Heat at Detroit Pistons

The Miami Heat will go for their eighth straight win tonight when they visit the Detroit Pistons. The Heat have won three straight against the Pistons, including two wins this season.

Our spreads for this game have the Heat favored by 7.5-points over the Pistons with the total set at 191.5.

Miami was able to rally for 117-112 win at home against the red-hot Pacers on Tuesday, and will open up a four-game road trip tonight in Detroit.

The Pistons avoided being the team who let the Cavaliers end their losing streak with a 103-94 win at Cleveland on Wednesday. It was the Pistons third win in their last four games.

The last time the Heat faced the Pistons, they won by just one-point, but were without both Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. LeBron James scored a game-high 39 points to go along with his nine assists and eight rebounds.

James has been nearly unstoppable of late, and is making his case for the MVP, especially with the way Cleveland is playing without him. James had 41 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists in the Heat’s win over Indiana. Chris Bosh added 19, Dwyane Wade put in 17, and Mario Chalmers had a nice game with 16 points.

While the Pistons have won three of four, I still have my doubts about this team. Those three wins came against the likes of New Jersey, Milwaukee, and Cleveland, not exactly much competition.

Against the Cavaliers, Tayshaun Prince was the only starter to score in double-figures with 10 points, but Detroit got 61 points from their bench. Rodney Stuckey had 22, Will Bynum finished with 17, and Charlie Villanueva scored 13 in just 18 minutes.

The Pistons played without Richard Hamilton for a second straight game, as he continues to be bothered with a groin injury. It does appear if Hamilton is healthy enough to play, he will be on the court tonight.

The Pistons have really played well on the defensive end lately, holding their last four opponents to just 88.5 points a game, but again you have to remember who they were playing. The one game they did lose they allowed 100 points to San Antonio, and lost by 11. Detroit doesn’t figure to have much hope holding the Heat in check tonight. Miami is averaging 107 over their last three road games.

The only concern for the Heat is just how serious they will take this game with a trip to Boston on the schedule for Sunday. While it will be hard for Miami to not look ahead, I think they are playing to well right now that even with an off night they can beat the Pistons by at least nine.
