NBA Spreads: Orlando Magic at Philadelphia 76ers

Written by -

The Philadelphia 76ers are set to host the Orlando Magic tonight. It will be the third meeting between the two teams this season. The teams split the first two games in Orlando.

Taking a look at the NBA odds for tonight’s games, oddsmakers have the Magic favored by 1.5-points over the 76ers with the total set at 196.5.

The Magic were able to come away with a 101-85 win over the Los Angeles Clippers last night, and will try and win two in a row for the first time since taking three straight from Jan. 19-Jan. 22.

The 76ers continued their strong play with an impressive 117-83 at Atlanta last night. It was just the third loss in the last 18 games for the Hawks at home. Philadelphia has now won seven of their last nine games.

While it appears the Magic won relatively easily last night, the game was a lot closer than the final score indicates. The Magic shot just 43.2% from the field, turned the ball over 16 times, and were 21-34 from the free throw line.

Orlando got a big time performance from Dwight Howard, as he scored a team-high 22 points to go along with his 20 rebounds. Jameer Nelson contributed 17 points, Ryan Anderson helped out with 13, and J.J. Redick came off the bench to score 12.

It’s going to be tough for the Magic to bounce back on the road in the second game of a back-to-back, but if this team comes to play there is no question they can find a way to win this game.

Philadelphia has to be wondering what it has to do to get some respect. The 76ers absolutely crushed Atlanta last night and are 5-1 in their last six at home, but still find themselves as the underdog. Orlando needed a 4-point play to send the game into overtime the last time they faced the Philadelphia. Orlando ended up winning the game 99-98, but you have to imagine that game is still on the minds of the 76ers.

Six different players scored in double-figures for the 76ers last night, led by Lou Williams 20 points off the bench. Elton Brand finished with 17, Jodie Meeks and Thaddeus Young each had 16, and Jrue Holiday ended up with 15.

The 76ers shot 54.4% from the field, turned the ball over just eight times, and were fortunate to be able to give a lot of their guys some much needed rest, with the Magic coming to town tonight.

I think you have to take the points and bet the 76ers to win this game. Orlando just isn’t playing well right now, and I think the 76ers have had this game circled ever since that unfortunate finish.
