NBA Spreads: New Orleans Hornets at Golden State Warriors
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The New Orleans Hornets will look to extend their winning streak to 10 games when they visit the Golden State Warriors Wednesday night. The Hornets will also be looking to avenge a 110-103 home loss to Golden State back on Jan. 5.
New Orleans comes in off yet another impressive win, as they rallied to beat the Thunder 91-89, thanks to a last second shot by David West.
The Warriors will look to bounce back from a couple of tough losses. Golden State fell 113-109 at the Clippers on Saturday and then lost at home to the league-best Spurs 113-102 on Monday. The Warriors had won their previews four games at home before falling to San Antonio.
Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s games, oddsmakers have the Hornets favored by 2.5-points over the Warriors with the total set at 198.5.

The Hornets are getting it done with great defense during their current nine-game wining streak. New Orleans is allowing just 85 points a game during their current run, but have had trouble shutting down the Warriors recently. Golden State shot 48% and scored 38 points in the fourth quarter to rally back and beat the Hornets on their home floor earlier this season. It was the fourth straight game against the Warriors where they allowed 35 or more in the final period.
Things could get a little tougher for the Hornets depending on how Chris Paul feels after tweaking his ankle against the Thunder. Paul is listed as probable for the game, but if he isn’t 100% it could be hard for the Hornets to keep up with the Warriors. Paul had 24 points and nine assists against the Thunder.
West finished the game with 20 points and Marcus Thornton game off the bench to score 10 points. It was the fourth straight game Thornton has came in and scored in double figures, and they are going to need his offense tonight.
Slowing down the Warriors offense figures to be quite the challenge for the Hornets, as Golden State has scored 100 points or more in each of their last seven games.
David Lee scored a season-high 31 points to go along with 12 rebounds against the Spurs, and is averaging 22.8 points and 11.2 rebounds over his last five games. Lee seems to have shaken off his slow start to the season, and now gives the Warriors a legit third scoring option with Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry.
The concern for the Warriors has to be their production off the bench. Golden State was outscored 46-14 by the Spurs bench, and is really lacking a consistent threat to come in the game and put points on the board.
Even with the bench struggles, I think the Warriors are a great play against the Hornets at home getting points. Golden State has proven to be a problem for New Orleans in the past, and with the improved play of Lee, I think the Hornets defense is in for a long night.
