NBA Spreads: Philadelphia 76ers at New Jersey Nets

Written by -

The New Jersey Nets will look to continue their strong play at home when they host the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night. Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s game, oddsmakers have the 76ers favored by 1.5-points over the Nets with the total set at 190.

Philadelphia beat Denver 110-99 at home on Sunday, and are 14-4 in their last 18 games on their home court. Philadelphia however is just 6-18 on the road this season.

The Nets also come into this game off a win at home against the Nuggets, as they beat Denver 115-99 on Monday. New Jersey has won five of their last six at the Prudential Center, and five of their last eight overall.

Philadelphia’s win over the Nuggets was a big one, as they needed to respond with a strong effort after blowing a 21-point lead late against the Memphis Grizzlies in their previous game.

Andre Iguodala scored a team-high 24 points in the win over Denver, and was one of six different players to score in double figures. Thaddeus Young came off the bench to score 21 points, while Elton Brand added 15.

Philadelphia won despite a poor night from point guard Jrue Holiday, who had just five points on 2-7 shooting. Look for Holiday to rebound with a much better showing tonight. In his last three games against the Nets, he is averaging 19.3 points and 8.3 assists.

The Nets recent surge at home has had a lot to do with the improved play of center Brook Lopez. In the win over Denver, Lopez had 27 points and is averaging just over 25 in his last five games.

Devin Harris scored just nine points against Nuggets, but finished with a career-high 18 assists. Travis Outlaw exploded for 21 points on 8-14 shooting, but he has struggled to be a consistent threat this season.

New Jersey also got a big time performance from their reserves, as Anthony Morrow scored 18 and Kris Humphries added 15. The Nets bench outscored the Nuggets bench 50-17.  It will be hard for the Nets to lose if they get that kind of production from this unit.

I was actually a little surprised to see the 76ers favored in this game, as they haven’t been a good road team all season. I think you have to take the Nets to not only cover but win this game. Philadelphia did win at New Jersey earlier this season by five, but I just think the Nets are playing with a lot more confidence right now and will get their revenge.
