NBA Spreads: San Antonio Spurs at Toronto Raptors

Written by -

The San Antonio Spurs will go for their fourth straight win on the road when they visit the Toronto Raptors Wednesday night. The Spurs beat Toronto 104-95 at home back on Jan. 19. Tip-off is set for 7:00 ET at Air Canada Centre.

Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s games, oddsmakers have the Spurs favored by 7.5-points over the Raptors with the total set at 203.5.

San Antonio was able to pull away late for a 100-89 win at Detroit last night, and are now 3-1 on their current nine-game road trip.

Toronto beat Minnesota 111-100 to snap a 13-game losing streak last Friday, but went right back to their losing ways, falling at Milwaukee 92-74 on Tuesday.

While San Antonio continues to win game after game this season, it never seems like they are satisfied with the way they are playing, and that makes them a very dangerous team.

The Spurs had all five starters finish in double-figures against the Pistons, led by Tony Parker who had 19 points and seven assists. DeJuan Blair came away with another nice game with 18 points and 12 rebounds, Manu Ginobili added 13 points, six assists, and five rebounds, and Tim Duncan scored 10 points and grabbed 10 boards in just 28 minutes of work. Matt Bonner also returned after a 10-game absence to score 10 points off the bench in just 14 minutes.

While the offense looked good against the Pistons, the defense was strong as well. San Antonio held Detroit to just 38 points in the second half, and 43.4% shooting.

The Raptors don’t seem to have a lot of fight left in them, and it will be interesting to see what kind of effort they give tonight against the Spurs. Toronto shot just 36.0% and went 0-10 from three-point range against the Bucks.

Andrea Bargnani scored a team-high 23 pointsand DeMar Derozan added 18, but no other played scored more than eight points for Toronto. The Raptors did get Leandro Barbosa back from injury, and he scored eight points in 25 minutes.

Both teams will be playing the second game of a back-to-back,  but that shouldn’t be much of a factor, as both teams had three days off before their game last night.

With that I think there is no doubt that if you are thinking about betting on the game, you have to lay the 7.5-points and take the Spurs. The Spurs don’t seem to take anyone lightly, and with the way the Raptors are playing, San Antonio should have this game covered with no problem.
