NBA Spreads: Washington Wizards at Dallas Mavericks
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The Dallas Mavericks will go for their fifth straight win when they host the Washington Wizards, who look to snap their 0-23 start on the road this season. Tip-off is set for 8:30 ET at American Airlines Center.
The Wizards nearly ended their road losing streak on Friday against the Thunder, but wound up losing 124-117 in double overtime. Washington didn’t have much of a chance in their following game on the road against the Grizzlies on Saturday, as Memphis won easily 107-93.
The Mavericks appear to be very close to their early season form that got them off to a 24-5 start. Dallas beat Atlanta 102-91 at home on Saturday for their fourth straight win, and fifth in their last six games.
Taking a look at the NBA spreads for tonight’s action, oddsmakers have the Mavericks favored by 10-points with the total set at 197.

The Wizards have had a hard time getting consistent play on the road this season, and it’s going to be hard for this team to end their losing streak against the Mavericks tonight.
Washington had to play without JaVale McGee on Saturday, and could be without Nick Young night, as the shooting guard is listed as questionable after having to leave early with a calf injury against the Grizzlies. Young had just eight points in 28 minutes, and without him the Wizards figure to be in a lot of trouble. Young had 32 points against the Thunder.
If Young isn’t able to go the Wizards are going to need a big game out of John Wall, who had 14 points and eight assist against the Grizzlies, but they are also going to need guys like Rashard Lewis, Andray Blatche, and Al Thornton to all have big games as well.
Dallas has won four straight despite Dirk Nowitzki still trying to find his rhythm offensively. Nowitzki had one of his better shooting nights against the Hawks, going 8-11 for 19 points to lead seven different Mavericks in double figures.
Jason Terry came off the bench to score 18 points, dish out 11 assists, and grab five rebounds, and his play is a big reason why the Mavericks are still a threat in the West. Terry is averaging 16.8 points off the bench over his last five, including a 28 point outburst against the Clippers.
Offensively the Mavericks are really moving the ball well, and defensively they can make stops when they need to. With the way the Wizards have struggled on the road, and the fact they are likely without their best scorer, I think you have to take the Mavericks -10 in this one.
