NBA Spreads: New York Knicks at Utah Jazz
Written by Steve Janus - Google +
The New York Knicks will look to conclude their four game Western Conference road trip with a win tonight, as they are set to take on the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions Arena. New York improved to 2-1 on the trip with an impressive 100-86 win at Portland last night. The Jazz were able to erase another big deficit, coming back from 14 down to beat the Rockets 103-99 on Saturday. Looking at the NBA spreads for tonight’s action, oddsmakers have the Jazz favored by 6.5-points over the Knicks with the total sitting at 210.

The Knicks got their road trip kicked off with a 121-96 win at Phoenix last Friday, but followed that up with a poor performance in a 109-87 loss against the Lakers. The Knicks must now find the energy to win on back-to-back nights. New York is 6-3 in this situation this season.
While the Knicks have struggled at Utah, they have done so in the past without Amare Stoudemire, who is the reason New York has turned things around this season. Stoudemire averaged just over 28 points against the Jazz in his last seven games while playing for the Suns. Stoudemire has scored 23 points in each of the three games on the current road trip, and will need to be a big factor if the Knicks are going to win at Utah.
Utah lost its last home game 110-87 against the Atlanta Hawks, and are just 13-7 at home this season, not exactly the home court dominance we are use to seeing from the Jazz.
Utah however should be well rested for the Knicks fast-paced attack, as they have had three days off to rest up and get ready for New York. The Jazz need Deron Williams to find his touch and really be a difference maker in this game. Williams had 14 points and 15 assists against the Rockets, but was just 5-16 from the field. With the way New York can score the basketball, Utah needs a big night from Williams to win this game. Williams is averaging 23 points and 13 assists in his last three home games against the Knicks.
While the Knicks have been one of the best bets all season against the spread on the road, I like the Jazz to come away with a convincing win tonight. New York can’t have much energy left in the tank, while Utah comes into this game well rested. The Jazz are 18-1 when they score a 100 points this season, and figure to do just that against a New York defense that is giving up nearly 106 points a game.
