NCAA Basketball Odds on Big Ten Teams To Win the Tournament
Written March 18, 2009 by Craig Trapp
The Big Ten was an under-rated conference this year with only Michigan State really breaking away from the pack and a lot of other teams beating each other up during the season. Now that the NCAA tournament is here one of our sports handicappers in Craig Trapp is going to take a look at the odds of each team to win the title and how good of a bet he thinks it is. If you are looking to get in on the action, Sportsbook.com allows you to deposit quick and easy using your credit or debit card.
Michigan State (15/1) – Craig feels like there are a bunch of mediocre teams but only Michigan State has the makings of a deep tournament run. Still, the Spartans probably can’t win six games in a row with their inconsistent shooting and could get bounced before the Sweet 16 even.
Purdue (35/1) – The value is here with the Boilermakers, who were the favorites to win the conference before the season started but were derailed by injuries. Now that the team is getting healthy at the right time Craig says not to be surprised if they go deep into the tournament and pull off a few upsets along the way.
Illinois (100/1) – The way this team struggles on offense Craig is having trouble seeing them winning a single game in the tournament. With Frazier’s hand injury a first round loss isn’t out of the question.
Wisconsin (100/1) – This is a team that Craig feels like has no chance of winning and wouldn’t take them no matter what the NCAA basketball odds were.
Ohio State (200/1) – Craig is confused at how the odds on the Buckeyes are worse than the Badgers, but still thinks that six straight wins would be next to impossible. You might see a win or two out of OSU but that’s it.
Michigan (200/1) - A team that Craig actually thinks could do some damage as the Wolverines posted some quality wins early in the year. There is plenty of talent here and Michigan plays solid on defense. This team might not be able to go all the way but there is upset potential here.
Overall Craig sees the Big Ten only have a few teams left and that no team will make it past the Elite Eight. If you want to do some NCAA basketball betting on who will win it all, Purdue seems to be the only bet worth making.
