NCAA Basketball Picks 1/16/2008
Written January 16, 2008 by Jack Jones
We pick up a nice win on Creighton last night, so let’s try to find the black with two more winners for Wednesday.
Iowa State +5.5
The Tigers are coming off a big win against Texas and they have Kansas coming up for their next game, so this is a great spot for Iowa State tonight. The Cyclones have played well in front of the Ames faithful going 8-2 and the Tigers have been bad on the road when they are the favorite, going 2-5 ATS in their last seven games. Missouri is also just 8-18-1 ATS as a favorite overall, so it’s easy to take the points against the Tigers. It’s an even better play when you consider how good Iowa State has been as the underdog, going 7-2-1 ATS the last ten times they caught points. The underdog is 13-3-1 ATS over the last 17 meetings, and I think that trend will continue tonight as we are taking the Cyclones plus the points.
Toledo – 2.5
Toledo has won nine straight games against Central Michigan and we think they can make it ten straight in front of their home crowd. Giordan Watson has been good for the Chippewas, but the Rockets should be able to contain him and pick up yet another win over their MAC foes.
Overall 12-18 -780
