2012 NCAA Basketball Tournament Schedule

The 74th annual Men’s Division I NCAA Basketball tournament is scheduled to start on March 13th this season, with the final game slated to be played on April 2nd at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, LA.

For the second time in its history the NCAA tournament will feature 68 teams in total.  Thirty teams will receive an automatic bid, those who win their conference tournament.  The thirty-first automatic bid goes to the regular season Ivy League champion as they do not have a conference tournament.  The other thirty-seven teams are chosen by the NCAA Selection Committee, who ranks the field, including the automatic bids, from seeds 1 to 68, splitting them into four regional brackets.
