North Carolina State vs. Florida State Football Betting Odds & Picks
Written October 14, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This Thursday night the Florida State Seminoles look to stay in the hunt in the ACC when they travel to take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack. The Seminoles (4-1) are coming their 2nd straight win, as they squeaked out a 41-39 win over Miami two weekend ago. The Wolfpack (2-4) look to get their first win of the season in conference play, as they fell to 0-2 after a 31-38 loss to Boston College last week. With these two teams heading in different direction its no surprise that the oddsmakers have the Seminoles 11.5 point favorites over the Wolfpack at Sportsbook.com
The Seminoles offense continued to look good as they racked up 440 yards of total offense for 41 points, and the main damage came on the ground as the Seminoles ran for 281 yards. Quarterback Christian Ponder was a big reason for the Seminoles success as he threw for 159 yards and a score, while running 19 times for 144 yards. Antone Smith was the man doing all the scoring, as he racked up 4 touchdowns on the ground while running the ball 27 times for 92 yards. Look for the Seminoles offense to continue to roll against NC State, as the only team to keep this offense in check is Wake Forest and their top notch defense.

The Seminoles defense started off the season really shutting down opposing teams offenses, but have given up 60 points the last two weeks to Colorado and Miami, and there has to be some concern on what is going on on this side of the ball. Though the defense did a good job keeping the Hurricanes from racking up yards, as they gave up just 256 yards, and only 51 on the ground. The Hurricanes were still able to points on the board. Its hard to believe that a team can put up 39 points going just 2-15 on 3rd downs, but things were just going the Hurricanes way. We expect a much better performance this weekend and for NC State to really struggle to move the football. Bet Florida State -11.5 at Sportsbook.com
North Carolina State had its chance to take down Boston College, as they came back from 11 down to tie the game, but a late touchdown by BC gave them the win, and the Wolfpack shorthanded once again. The offense continues to look better with Russell Wilson at quarterback as he threw for 218 yards and most importantly didn’t turn the ball over. The Wolfpack got little from their ground game totaling just 35 yards, and it won’t get any easier for them against Florida States excellent run defense.
The Wolfpack defense hasn’t had a lot of success shutting down opponents this weekend, as they let BC quarterback Chris Crane throw for 428 yards and running back Rich Gunnell to rush for 123 yards on just 11 carries. Look for the Seminoles to attack this defense up the middle and try and run all over the Wolfpack. If North Carolina State wants any chance of staying in this one, they have to keep Ponder in check, as his duel threat of throwing and running have proven to be to much for most defenses this weekend.
