NFL Betting Strategy

You’ve come to the right place if you are looking for a good starting NFL betting strategy. These are some of the basic guidelines that our expert NFL handicappers use when placing their own wagers. If you follow these betting tips you’ll greatly increase your chances of coming out ahead.
Money Management - This is the biggest pitfall of most bettors. For starters you need to set an amount you are willing to (that you can afford to) lose and don’t exceed that amount, period. The next step is to get a set idea of how much you want to bet on each game. You are typically going to want to plan for 2-5% of your total starting bankroll per game. If you don’t have much experience with money management this probably doesn’t seem like much, but it will protect you against bad runs and keep you going through the entire season.
Avoid Going on “Tilt” – This goes hand in hand with money management, but it’s important enough that it bares mentioning it individually. Going on tilt simply means that you bet much more than you usually would and probably on a game that you wouldn’t normally bet on. Betting emotionally like this almost never leads to good results. This includes “chasing” bets, doubling up each time you lose trying to win back what you lost on the original bet. Eventually you run out of money.
Research – Study the teams and study the odds. There is a ton of information available and you should absorb as much as you possibly can before you place a bet. Whether you are signing up for premium NFL picks for expert advice from one of our expert handicappers or studying the games yourself, you should always be learning how to improve your winning percentage.
Line Shopping – Find multiple sportsbooks you feel comfortable with and sign up for accounts with them. This will ensure you don’t get stuck with whatever line your first option gives you. With NFL odds the difference between a point or a point and a half is often times the difference between a winning bet and a losing bet.
