Week 7 NFL Odds

Written October 21, 2009 by Rock Henderson

San Diego at Kansas City is a heated AFC West rivalry that never seems to disappoint. The Chargers are coming off a disappointing loss at home to division leader Denver and have posted a 2-3 record through five games. KC head coach Todd Haley notched his first victory last week against Washington and will look to build on that momentum. The Chiefs are getting 5 points at home.

One of the major mismatches of Week 7 features the Colts traveling to St. Louis to take on the hapless Rams. Peyton Manning is playing at an MVP level and his young receivers have developed nicely. The Rams were much more competitive with QB Marc Bulger back from injury. Indianapolis is a 13 point favorite according to our latest NFL betting lines.

The Bengals will host Chicago in an interesting AFC vs NFC match-up. Both teams are coming off tough losses and a win here would really boost the winner’s playoff chances. If the Bears are able to take care of the ball, they will have a very good chance of coming away with a win. Chicago is a 1.5 point dog on the road.

Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers has thrown for over 350 yards in his last two outings and has three in site when the Packers play at Cleveland. Eric Mangini has the Browns play much more competitively in recent weeks, but his quarterback situation is still unsteady with Derek Anderson having the worst quarterback rating in the league. The Browns are getting a touchdown.

The featured game of Week 7 has to be the undefeated Minnesota Vikings at the 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers. Brett Favre continues his magical run with the men in purple after another come from behind victory at home against Baltimore. The Steel City is optimistic that a repeat could be in store after their Steelers have rattled off three straight wins. Pittsburgh is a 4 point favorite.

New England sent a message to the entire NFL in their 59-0 beatdown of the Tennessee Titans. Things don’t get any tougher for the Patriots when they make the trip South to Tampa Bay. Rookie head coach Raheem Morris is searching for answers to turn the Bucs season around. QB changes haven’t been the answer for Tampa. New England is a 15 point favorite.

Houston’s high powered offense will clash with a 49er team that was lit up by Atlanta before a much needed bye week hit. San Francisco will get play making WR Michael Crabtree in the starting lineup right away. If Crabtree is looking to learn a few things he should keep his eye on Texan WR Andre Johnson. Houston is giving 3 points on their home field.

Not only have the Jets been losers of three straight, but now they get the pleasure of flying cross country to face the upstart Oakland Raiders. It will be a battle of the Ryan brothers in this one as Rex Ryan is the head coach of the Jets and Bob Ryan is the defensive coordinator of Oakland. New York has to win here or the media is going to continue to rip the rookie QB Mark Sanchez. The Jets are favored by 6 points.

Will the Wildcat be able to finally slow down the New Orleans Saints? Miami has won two straight and is coming off their bye week to prepare for a Saint team that has marched through their first six games without missing a beat. New Orleans is favored by 6 at Landshark Stadium.

Atlanta hits the road this week to square off against a desperate Dallas team. This game should have quite a bit of scoring take place as both offenses are the strength of each team. The Falcons are pretty beat up on the defensive side of the ball so look for Cowboy QB Tony Romo to have a big day. Dallas is giving 4 points to Atlanta.

Sunday night’s primetime game is the Arizona Cardinals at the New York Giants. Arizona is starting to play like the defending NFC champs, while the Giants are trying to get over an embarrassing 21 point loss at New Orleans. Kurt Warner and company struggle on the road in cooler environments so the task at hand Sunday is large. The G-men are a touchdown favorite

The Philadelphia Eagles proved that each team must show up on any given Sunday to win in the NFL. After losing to the Oakland Raiders, Philly has an opportunity to take out some of its frustration on an awful Washington Redskin team. Records can really be thrown out when these two heated rivals get together though. Washington is getting 7 points at home.

Rob Ryan is no longer the Defensive Coordinator for the Raiders. It’s John Marshall.
