NFL Picks – Week 12

Written November 19, 2008 by Anthony Moretti

There’s really no way I can bring myself to bet on the Bengals this year, even as 10.5 point dogs, so the play on Thursday night has to be the Steelers by two touchdowns, 28-14.

The Giants are giving 3 at Arizona.  Road dogs can be killers in the NFL, but the Giants are too good right now.  New York 31, Arizona 20.

I faded the Titans last week thinking their run had to eventually come to an end.  Now, I’m not so sure.  They are 5 point favorites at home against the Jets.  Feels like about time for the Brett Favre meltdown game.  Tennessee in convincing fashion 28-10.

The Dolphins have won 4 in a row, but I still don’t really see how they are 1 point favorites against the Patriots, even at home.  Time for that Miami run to end.  Pats win 23-17.

Is there something in the water in San Diego?  The Chargers have lost 3 of their last 4 and have a surging Colts team this week.  The Colts are 2.5 point dogs, but I’m thinking moneyline here.  Indy 27, San Diego 21.

The Packers are playing for the playoffs right now.  The Saints are 2.5 point favorites at home, but Green Bay is getting hot at just the right time.  Aaron Rodgers and company squeak by New Orleans 28-24.

If you haven’t given up on the Lions, now is the time.  They’ve been ok against the spread this year, but this week Tampa Bay will likely hold their offense to about 50 yards of total offense.  Tampa won’t have to score much to cover this one, the Bucs win 20-3.

The Baltimore Ravens got a reality check from the New York Giants last week.  This week they are at home as one point favorites over Philadelphia.  Philly is just .500 on the road and they just tied the Bengals last week.  I mean, the Bengals?  I’ll take Baltimore to win 21-17.

I love what the Falcons have done this year, but the Carolina Panthers keep on winning and it doesn’t seem to matter where they play, they find a way to pull it out.  Final score: Carolina 27, Atlanta 20.

Raiders v. Broncos used to be a classic rivalry.  This year it’s a joke.  Raiders defense, meet the Denver offense.  Broncos in a laugher 45-21.

I’m still not convinced the Jags are as bad as their record indicates they are.  Minnesota has a great running back and a great defense, it’s just no enough.  Jacksonville 23, Minnesota 10.

Not much to play for in the Houston/Cleveland game this week, but I’m sure the Browns will try to keep developing Brady Quinn.  He’s still got aways to go, but should work the Houston secondary well enough to pick up a 28-21 win for Cleveland.

San Francisco v. Dallas is another rivalry that’s fallen on hard times, mostly because the 49ers have been terrible.  Mike Singletary seems to have brought them alive however, so I’ll take the 10 points and the 49ers this week.  Dallas 31, San Francisco 24.

The Rams are playing some awful football if I’ve ever seen it.  Take the Bears and give the 8.  Chicago wins 21-7.

Washington wants and needs a win at Seattle.  They’ve got the talent to get it done on the road this week, Redskins win 24-14.

The Bills can snap a 4 game losing streak with a win at Kansas City this week.  The Bills will snap their 4 game losing streak at Kansas City this week.  Bills 30, Chiefs 13.
