NFL Picks: Week 6

Written October 15, 2009 by Rock Henderson

The Houston Texans will try to tame the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday. Houston is in a nice position to steal a win on the road here as the Bengals are coming off another emotional final drive win. The Texans have the offensive fire power to keep this game close and Cincinnati seems to love playing games that come down to the final play. Play: Houston +4.5

Baltimore at Minnesota is sure to provide a few highlight reel hits and plenty of action in the run game. The Ravens are in a desperate spot here and need a victory to run their record to 4-2 before they hit their bye week. Minnesota has been on a nice run, but it comes to an end here as I believe Baltimore will win out right. Play: Baltimore +3

One squad will suffer their first loss when New York and New Orleans hook up. The Saints are extremely tough at home, but the Giants are road warriors. They should be able to control the ball with their running attack and their defense could force Drew Brees into mistakes he hasn’t made all year.  The current NFL betting lines have installed the Saints as 3 point favorites. Play: New York +3

Arizona at Seattle is a key NFC West match-up that could go a long way in determining who will challenge the 49ers for the West. The return of QB Matt Hasselbeck makes the Seahawks a viable contender again and they have one of the best home field advantages in the league. Arizona is notorious for struggling on the road. Play: Seattle -3

After watching the Titans lose yet another game against the Colts, it is clear to me they have mailed it in for the year. New England can’t be happy with their second half performance against Denver and should have plenty of opportunities through the air to take out some of their frustration against a depleted Tennessee secondary. Play: New England -9

Hot Atlanta will look to duplicate their offensive explosion against the Bears Sunday. Chicago has had two weeks to prepare for this game, but the Falcons just have too many weapons and the Georgia Dome is always tough to play in. It will be interesting to see if the Bears D concentrates on stopping the run or plays it more conservative to eliminate big plays in the passing game. Play: Atlanta -3

Monday night features a nice rivalry game between the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers. San Diego hasn’t quite lived up to expectations yet, but a win over Denver will pull them within one game of the division lead. The Broncos are the more complete team and Kyle Orton refuses to turn the ball over. I will continue to ride the wave until Denver shows they are over matched in a game. Play: Denver +3.5

Other Leans:

Kansas City +6.5 over Washington

Pittsburgh -14 over Cleveland

Jacksonville -10 over St. Louis

Carolina -3 over Tampa Bay

Green Bay -13.5 over Detroit

Oakland +14 over Philadelphia

New York -9.5 over Buffalo
