2008 NFL Playoff Picks Round 2

Seattle +9
I’m going with the Seahawks in this one. Holmgren and Hasselbeck will be looking for revenge, and they have experience on their side. Green Bay is a fairly young team hasn’t battled it out in the do-or-die atmosphere that is the playoffs. Seattle’s defense has been tough all year long, and they should cause some problems for the Green Bay offense. I don’t see Seattle having much trouble passing the ball now that all four of their top receivers are healthy (Branch, Burleson, Hackett, and Engram.) Nine points is a lot, and Seattle is just too good.
Seattle is 7-2 ATS in its last 9 games and 4-1-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing on the road against Green Bay.
New England -13.5
It’s painful to lay nearly two touchdowns to anyone come playoff time, but we feel pretty good about New England here. The Pats are an offensive juggernaut and get the home field against a Jags team that couldn’t run the ball at all against the Steelers. If Garrard is forced to pass the ball, the Jags aren’t going to score many points, and the points will be plentiful on New England’s side.
New England is 15-7 ATS in its last 22 games and 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games at home. Plus the Pats have dominated Jacksonville going 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games against them.
San Diego +9
San Diego just doesn’t seem to be getting any respect this year. Sure they got off to a horrible start, but this team has learned from the hardships they have faced. Last year it just came too easy for them as they went 14-2, earned a bye week, then lost a tough battle to the Patriots. This year they know what it takes to win in the playoffs and they know what it’s like to battle through when the going gets tough. I’ll take the points here.
San Diego is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games and 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games on the road. We also want to take note that the Chargers have dominated the Colts, going 10-3 ATS in their last 13 matchups. That domination has been even more apparent when traveling to Indianapolis where the Chargers are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 tries.
New York Giants +7.5
The Giants have gone unnoticed in the NFC even though they are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games and 11-4 SU in their last 15 games. The team has played even better on the road, not losing a single game away from home since losing in week one at Dallas. They will get their chance at some revenge this week against the Cowboys and the way this team is playing it’s hard not to like them. Eli Manning has been playing smart, Brandon Jacobs is a bruising runner, and the defense brings the heat and causes turnovers.
The Cowboys are going to have Terrell Owens in the lineup most likely, but how healthy will he be? The Cowboys looked like the team to beat all season long in the NFC, but with the way New York is playing we will take the points here.
