NFL Odds: Week 12

Written November 19, 2008 by Steve Janus

Thursday Night Football this week features the Cincinnati Bengals at the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Oddsmakers aren’t giving the Bengals much of a chance (with good reason) and have made them 10.5 underdogs against Pitt.

The New York Giants continue their campaign to repeat as Super Bowl Champions at Arizona this week.  The Cardinals can clinch their division with a win, but the Giants are favored by 3 points.

Can the undefeated run continue for the Tennessee Titans?  They get the Jets in Tennessee this week, which has shaped up to be one of the best match ups on the board.  The 10-0 Titans are 5 point favorites on their home field.

In one of the more suspicious lines of the week, the Miami Dolphins are favored by one point at home against the the New England Patriots.  The Dolphins have been squeaking by everyone lately, though, so maybe the spread is justified.

The Colts have turned their season around, but they are getting 2.5 points at San Diego this week against a Charger team that has seemingly fallen apart since last year.

Monday Night Football has a pair of 5-5 teams in the Packers and the Saints.  The Saints are 2.5 point favorites, but the Packers have a lot of motivation as they still have a very legitimate shot at the playoffs.

Do the Detroit Lions even want to win another game this year?  They actually haven’t played that poorly lately, but keep ending up getting the short end of the stick.  No easy task for Detroit at home this week, they get the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who come into town as 8 point favorites.

The Eagles and Ravens could both use a win this week.  Oddsmakers think it will be a close one with the Ravens favored by 1 point at home.

The Panthers try for their 9th win of the season at Atlanta this week.  The Falcons need a win at home to shake off the Denver loss from last week, and to prove they are playoff-worthy.

The Denver Broncos have to completely fall apart to lost the AFC West.  There’s little chance of that this week.  The Broncs are 8.5 point favorites over the lowly Raiders in Denver.

Jacksonville has probably played themselves out of the playoff picture, but they are still tough at home and are 2.5 point favorites against the visiting Minnesota Vikings this week.

The Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns are pretty much playing for pride at this point.  The Browns get favored by 3.5 at home this week.

The Cowboys got their mojo back with Tony Romo.  Dallas hosts San Francisco as 10 point favorites Sunday.

The Bears will need to win at St. Louis to try and keep pace with the Packers.  St. Louis has been just awful.  As a result, they are 8 point dogs at home.

Washington tries to keep the wheels from falling off by avoiding their 3 straight loss.  The Redskins are 3.5 point favorites on the road at Seattle.

My how the Buffalo Bills have fallen.  This week they play at Kansas City as just 3.5 point favorites over the 1-9 Chiefs.
