NFL Power Rankings – Week 11

Written November 11, 2008 by Jack Jones

There weren’t a lot of surprises around the NFL this week.  The Titans won again, as did the Giants and both are currently favorites to make the Super Bowl.  The best part is that there are still seven weeks left in the season and I have a feeling that these power rankings after week 11 are going to look vastly different before the end of the year.  At this point, though, here’s what I’ve got for the top ten teams in the NFL:  If you are looking to bet on the NFL, check out Sportsbook.com for instant credit card deposits and 100% first win bonuses!

1.  Tennessee Titans
At 9-0 you have to put the Titans of at the top of your list in the NFL.  There defense is scary good and they proved last week that they can throw the ball when they need to.  The Titans still have some tough games down the road, but they are the team to beat in the AFC right now.

2.  New York Giants
It doesn’t look like like anyone is going to catch the Giants in the NFC East, they’ve now beaten Washington, Dallas, and Philadelphia.  All of those teams get another crack at the New York, but the way they are playing right now it’s not going to matter much.

3.  Carolina Panthers
It’s safe to say that nobody wants to face the Panthers at home this year.  They’re already 5-0 and 4 of their remaining 7 games are in Carolina.  There’s no such thing as an easy win in the NFL, but the Panthers are in great position to lock up a playoff spot.

4.  Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers aren’t the same imposing team that they have been in recent years, but if they get healthy and Big Ben stops making uncharacteristic mistakes they can still go far this season.

5.  Washington Redskins
Who would have thought the Skins would have been the second best team in the NFC East this year?  Washington is for real, but they need Clinton Portis healthy and productive down the home stretch.

6.  Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons have made all of the right moves over the past year in the wake of the Michael Vick fiasco.  The only thing keeping them out of the top five right now is a lack of wins from in their division.  Luckily for Atlanta, they’ll get plenty of chances in the next seven weeks to try and earn some much-needed wins against NFC South opponents.

7.  Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay is nipping at Carolina’s heels in the NFC South.  They are still getting it done with defense, a solid running game, and an under-appreciated quarterback.  This same formula has worked for Jon Gruden and the Bucs before.  Hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?

8.  Indianapolis Colts
Peyton Manning appears to be back.  I know that Indy fans (and my fantasy team) are happy about that.  But equally important is that the Colts’ defensive leader, Bob Sanders appears to be healthy and wreaking havoc all over the field again.

9.  Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore has looked solid against some of the weaker teams in the league, but losses against Pitt, Tennessee, and Indy have me worried that they aren’t as good as their record might imply.  They have a very tough schedule remaining.  The next 4 weeks will be very telling about how good they really are.

10.  New England Patriots
The Pats are quietly leading the AFC East this year.  Brett Favre might be getting all of the attention in the division, but the real story is how Matt Cassel has managed to keep this team from completely falling apart.
