Week 12 NFL Power Rankings
Written November 20, 2008 by Jack Jones
There’s just no way you don’t put the 10-0 Titans at the top of the NFL power rankings. Did I mention they are 10-0?
The Giants are scary good. They keep winning and they keep doing it in convincing fashion. This week New York is a 3 point favorite at Arizona.
Carolina is 8-2. They’ve won some close games, but that should give this team character down the home stretch.
The Tampa Bay Bucs just keep on getting better. NFC offenses are powerless against them.
When the Jets beat the Patriots last week they proved to a lot of people they were for real. If you haven’t figured it out, I’m one of those people.
The Cowboys are healthy and ready to start trouncing lesser opponents. There are still some concerns on defense against some of the league’s better offenses, however.
It’s “make your season” time for Arizona. If they beat the Giants this week they are legitimate contenders. If they lose, they’ll still run away with the NFC West, but there will be plenty of doubts about how far they can go in the playoffs.
Indianapolis has hit their stride and are looking more and more dangerous each week. The offense is making all of the right moves, but we though getting Bob Sanders back was going to help the defense get back on track. It hasn’t been the case.
When Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t turn the ball over, the Steelers win. It’s as simple as that.
The Patriots lost a lot last week with a loss to the Jets, now they face the possibility of losing the playoffs if they can’t find a way to get past Miami this week.
The Broncos are phenomenal on offense, but their defense keeps them from being a top-tier NFL team this year.
Atlanta will move up the ranks by leaps and bounds if they can find a way to knock off Carolina this week. With loss at home last week, however, doubts are starting to pile up about the Falcons.
The Washington Redskins need to bust out of their current funk or they’ll miss the playoffs. They have the talent, they just need Jason Campbell to start finding a better rhythm, and now.
Green Bay is a different team when Ryan Grant is healthy and running the ball well. He ran well last week and the Packers looked great. They are currently tied for the division lead.
The Baltimore Ravens’ defense looked vulnerable for the first time in a long time last week. Either the Ravens are starting to wear down, or the Giants are simply THAT good. The Ravens are currently 1 point favorites at home.
The Eagles tied the Bengals last week. That’s enough to drop anyone a few spots in the power rankings. This week they play at Baltimore against an angry Ravens squad. Ouch.
Where’s the defense the Chicago Bears have been known for in the past?
The Minnesota Vikings are good on defense, good running the ball, but terrible throwing the ball. A consistent passing game would do wonders for this team.
New Orleans has a tough road ahead, but they keep hanging around. Playoffs are doubtful, but you never know. If they could just get healthy it would solve a lot of problems.
