NFL Power Rankings for Week 14
Written December 3, 2008 by Jack Jones
The Giants (11-1) have been impressive this season to say the least. They have the talent on both sides of the ball to potentially beat anyone, at any stadium, in any situation. Could we be witnessing the birth of the new dynasty in the NFL? It’s too soon to tell, but all of the pieces are starting to fall into place.
Tennessee (11-1) rebounded nicely from their first loss of the season by picking apart the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. The Titans are still the team to beat in the AFC.
The Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3) popped New England in the mouth last week and made Matt Cassel remember that he’s still a first year starter in this league. The Steelers have the best defense in the NFL and they are making less mistakes on offense. They’ll face the Cowboys this week in Pittsburgh.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-3) can pull further ahead in the NFC South this week with a win over the Panthers at Carolina. It won’t be easy, but the Tampa Bay defense has been hard to solve again this year.
Carolina (9-3) falls just behind the Bucs due to the fact that Tampa already owns a convincing win over them, but Monday Night Football this week might change our minds. The Panthers keep winning in difficult situations, which should come in handy for this team come playoff time. Bet Monday Night Football this week and get a 50% Signup Bonus!
The Jets’ (8-4) roll finally came to an end last week in a terrible game in terrible weather against the Broncos. The Jets should still be able to grab the title in the division, however, with only San Francisco, Buffalo, Seattle, and Miami left on their schedule.
Wow, the Falcons (8-4) have really turned some heads this year. The best part? They are getting it all done on both sides of the ball, and with a rookie quarterback to boot. There’s a big game waiting for them this week in New Orleans as they fight for a playoff Wild Card spot.
Indianapolis (8-4) continues to win close games, even on the road. The big question on everyone’s mind is: What happened to the offense? Last week was the first time that the Colts didn’t score an offensive touchdown in over 5 years. They did still find a way to win, though.
The Baltimore Ravens (8-4) still have one of the best defenses in football. The offense is still fairly inconsistent, but it’s one of the better seasons production-wise that they’ve had in awhile. The Ravens have only lost to teams with winning records and they have a string of them to finish out their season. We’ll have to wait and see what they have left by the end of the year.
It’s hard to know what to think of the Cowboys (8-4) right now. They started to fall apart even before Romo went down. Now that he’s back they seem to be on track, but they haven’t played anyone since Romo’s return. This week will be a huge test to see where they really are on the season at Pittsburgh.
