Week 7 NFL Power Rankings

Written October 22, 2009 by Rock Henderson

.) New Orleans- Dominated the G-men last week to dethrone my top ranked team. 48 points against one of the best defenses in the league is ridiculous.

.) Indianapolis Colts- Coming off their bye week but technically it will be their first of two as they travel to St Louis this Sunday.

.) Minnesota Vikings- Dodging bullets as are two plays away from being 4-2. First real road test this weekend in the Steel City.

.) Denver Broncos- QB Kyle Orton is finally getting the respect his deserves as a proven winner. Denver will be a tough place to play in January.

.) New York Giants- One false step is no time to panic. Obviously need to find a way to secure home field advantage so they don’t have to play in a dome again.

.) New England Patriots- Tom Brady’s six touchdown passes came against a decimated Titan secondary. Is a sequel in store for the Buccaneers?  The Pats are 15 point favorites at Tampa Bay according to our NFL betting lines.

.) Pittsburgh Steelers- Have transformed themselves into a passing team. Getting FS Troy Polamalu on defense is huge.

.) Atlanta Falcons- So many weapons on offense, but their defense is having a hard time staying healthy

.) Chicago Bears- Questionable play calling in the red zone and a Forte fumble at the 1 sum up Chicago’s performance this year inside the 20.

.) Cincinnati Bengals- Secondary needs to tighten things up after Matt Schaub had a field day. Jury is still out on this team.

.) Baltimore Ravens- Showed fight in their 17 point comeback at Minnesota, but a missed FG sent the Ravens home with their third straight loss.

.) Philadelphia Eagles- Media is making excuses for this team saying they always go through a game like this under Reid. A loss to Oakland is inexcusable.

.) Green Bay Packers- Rodgers threw for over 350 yards for a second week in a row, but still being sacked way too much.

.) San Francisco 49ers- Should see the real 49er team at Houston when RB Frank Gore returns and with WR Michael Crabtree in the starting lineup.

.) Arizona Cardinals- Looked really good at Seattle last week. Need to be able to show that they are capable of playing with some consistency.

.) Houston Texans- Are a playoff team on the offensive end. Still a lot of question marks on the defensive side of the ball.

.) San Diego Chargers- Must win at home on a Monday night and you lose by 11 to Denver? Get off this bandwagon if you are still on it.

.) Dallas Cowboys- One big week and WR Miles Austin works his way into the 2 deep. This team will go as far as QB Tony Romo can take them.

.) Miami Dolphins- Their quirky offense could give the Saints some problems. Catching New Orleans at the perfect time also.

.) New York Jets- Loved how the announcers were bailing out Mark Sanchez’s play against Buffalo by saying he is not use to playing in that type of weather. He might want to get use to it quickly.

Rest of the Bunch

.) Carolina Panthers

.) Jacksonville Jaguars

.) Seattle Seahawks

.) Buffalo Bills

.) Oakland Raiders

.) Washington Redskins

.) Detroit Lions

.) Kansas City Chiefs

.) Cleveland Browns

.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

.) Tennessee Titans

.) St. Louis Rams
