NFL Predictions: Week 7

Written October 25, 2009 by Kyle Hunter

The biggest game of the weekend is probably the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Vikings are still unbeaten, but can they beat the Steelers on the road? The Steelers are very tough to beat at home, and I think Big Ben and the offense will come through at the end in a close one. Prediction: Steelers 24 Vikings 21

The Green Bay Packers head to Cleveland to take on the lowly Browns. As if things weren’t bad enough for them, more than 10 Browns players have become ill this week. The Packers offense should have their way in this one. Prediction: Packers 30 Browns 14

The New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Bucs will play in Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, but it shouldn’t be much of a contest. The Bucs are winless and the Pats seem to finally be putting it together. Prediction: Patriots 34 Bucs 10

The undefeated Colts will take on the winless Rams in St. Louis Sunday. Bob Sanders is expected back for the Colts, and that is a huge pickup for their defense. Manning should have a field day in this one. Prediction: Colts 31 Rams 13

The San Diego Chargers need to turn their season around right now, and they’ll head to Kansas City in hopes of beating a divisional rival. On paper this looks like an easy Chargers win, but the Chiefs are tougher at home and the Chargers don’t have their act together. Prediction: Chargers 20 Chiefs 17

The San Francisco 49ers are looking to bounce back after their horrible performance against the Falcons last game. The Houston Texans will look to build on their impressive win at Cincinnati. Expect plenty of points since the Texans can’t stop the run and the Texans can throw the football as well as anyone. Prediction: Houston 30 San Francisco 24

The Jets head to Oakland to try to get their season back on track this Sunday. This one should be a defensive struggle as these two offenses are likely to struggle mightily. I’ll take the Jets because Sanchez is better than Russell, even with his terrible performance last Sunday. Prediction: Jets 17 Raiders 13

The Bills upset the Jets last weekend, but can they do the same thing to the Panthers this Sunday? The Panthers have finally started playing better football and their greatest strength is their running game. The Bills can’t stop the run. Prediction: Panthers 28 Bills 17

The Saints take their 5-0 record to south Florida to take on Miami this Sunday. The Saints offense is clicking on all cylinders and their defense is much improved from a year ago. I don’t think the Dolphins have the firepower to win this one. Prediction: Saints 28 Dolphins 20

The 4-1 Atlanta Falcons visit the 3-2 Dallas Cowboys this Sunday afternoon. Matt Ryan is having a better season than Tony Romo, but it does appear Marion Barber will play in this game for the Cowboys. This should be a very tightly contested game that goes down to the wire. Prediction: Dallas 24 Atlanta 21

The Chicago Bears head to Cincinnati to face the Bengals in a key game for both teams. These teams are very even on paper and I expect this to be a very close game all the way through. I’ll take the Bengals to pull this one out at the very end, but this is a virtual coin flip game. Prediction: Bengals 27 Bears 24

The Arizona Cardinals seem to be getting things together, but they face a very tough test in the New York Giants this weekend. The Giants will be looking to prove a point after last weekend’s letdown against the Saints. The better defense helps the Giants win this one. Prediction: Giants 24 Cardinals 20

The Monday night game will pit the Eagles against the Redskins. The Redskins are much maligned and the Eagles are coming off a troubling loss to Oakland. At home the Redskins will put up a fight, but the Eagles win in the end. Prediction: Eagles 21 Redskins 14
