Written September 22, 2009 by Black Widow

NFL Recap Week 2Week 2 NFL betting is now complete and it’s time to take a look at a recap of what happened over the weekend to help you beat the pro football odds for Week 3. If you were wagering on underdogs Sunday, then you would have done very well. In all, 8 underdogs won their games outright, so those money line wagers proved to be very profitable. Superbook has their lines posted and you can sign up today to take advantage of their 50% deposit bonus!

Jets defeat Patriots 16-9 - Apparently, head coach Rex Ryan knows a thing or two about defense. After limiting the Texans to just 7 points in Week 1, the Jets held this high-powered Pats offense to just three field goals in Week 2. Mark Sanchez managed the game nicely by completing 14-of-22 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown, but the story was the defense.

Saints defeat Eagles 48-22 - New Orleans has now scored 95 points in two games, and Drew Brees clearly has this offense hitting on all cylinders. Granted, it came against the Lions and a banged-up Eagles’ defense, but Brees now has 9 touchdowns on the season after throwing for 311 yards and three scores in the win Sunday.

Redskins defeat Rams 9-7 - This was not an impressive win for Washington, but they are going to have to continue to win ugly. Their defense is stout with the addition of Albert Haynsworth, and Marc Bulger completed just 15-of-28 passes for 125 yards in the loss. Jason Campbell went 23-of-35 for 242 yards in the victory.

Cardinals defeat Jaguars 31-17 - Kurt Warner set a single-game record for highest completion percentage in NFL history for a QB attempting at least 20 passes. Warner went 24-of-26 for 243 yards and two touchdowns in the win. It was a huge victory for the Cardinals, but an equally crushing defeat for the 0-2 Jaguars.

Falcons defeat Panthers 28-20 - Matt Ryan was brilliant, completing 21-of-27 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns. It was the second straight game that Tony Gonzalez was on the receiving end of a TD, and he finished with seven grabs for 71 yards and a score. Jake Delhomme bounced back for Carolina with 308 yards and a TD with only one interception.

Vikings defeat Lions 27-13 - Detroit jumped out to a 10-0 lead, but the Vikings outscored the Lions 27-3 the rest of the way. Brett Favre was very efficient by going 23-of-27 for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Bengals defeat Packers 31-24 - Cincinnati needed this game to avoid falling to 0-2 with Pittsburgh coming up next weekend. The Bengals went out and got it behind 141 rushing yards from Cedric Benson and three touchdown passes from Carson Palmer. The defense limited the Packers to just 3 points in the second half to finish off the win.

Texans defeat Titans 34-31 - Houston overcame nearly 300 total yards from Chris Johnson of Tennessee. Matt Shaub went 25-of-29 for 357 yards and four touchdowns as the Texans’ offense got back on track after scoring only 7 points last week against the Jets. Tennessee has major concerns defensively right now.

Raiders defeat Chiefs 13-10 - Oakland did just enough to win despite an ugly 7-for-24 performance from JaMarcus Russell with only 109 passing yards. Matt Cassel was solid for the Chiefs in his debut, completing 24-of-39 passes for 241 yards and a score. But he did throw two costly interceptions, and the Raiders scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 5-yard run by Darren McFadden with only 1:07 remaining. It was a big answer after the Chiefs had scored with 2:38 to go in the fourth quarter on a 29-yard TD catch by Dwayne Bowe.

Bills defeat Buccaneers 33-20 - Buffalo took a commanding 17-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Trent Edwards threw for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns while Fred Jackson carried the load on the ground, rushing for 163 yards. Byron Leftwich threw three touchdown passes for Tampa Bay, but it took 50 attempts where he completed only 26 of them.

49ers defeat Seahawks 23-10 - The San Francisco defense held Seattle scoreless in the second half after Matt Hasselbeck went down with a rib injury. Frank Gore rushed for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns, including two TD runs of 79 yards or more.

Ravens defeat Chargers 31-26 - Ray Lewis stopped Darren Sproles in the backfield on a 4th-and-1 play late in the game to seal the victory. Baltimore overcame 426 passing yards from Philip Rivers, and Willis McGahee carried the load offensively with 79 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Bears defeat Steelers 17-14 - Jeff Reed missed two field goals in the second half for Pittsburgh, which allowed Robbie Gould to kick the game-winner for the Bears with only 3 seconds remaining. Jay Cutler bounced back nicely with 236 passing yards and 2 touchdowns with no interceptions in his debut at Soldier Field.

Broncos defeat Browns 27-6 - Cleveland put up 2 field goals in the first quarter, but Denver held Brady Quinn and company scoreless over the final three quarters to come away with a dominant win. Kyle Orton completed only about half his passes, but he finished with 263 yards and a touchdown.

Giants defeat Cowboys 33-31 - Eli Manning drove the Giants down the field trailing by 1-point to set up a game-winning field goal from Lawrence Tynes as time expired. Manning finished with 330 passing yards and two scores, one to Mario Manningham and one to Steve Smith who each finished with 10 catches. Tony Romo had his worst game as a Cowboy, going 13-for-29 for 127 yards.

Colts defeat Dolphins 27-23 - Despite Miami controlling the ball for more than 45 minutes and finishing with 239 rushing yards, in the end it was Peyton Manning that made the difference. Trailing by 3 with less than 4 minutes to go, Manning led the Colts on a TD drive, his 37th game-winning drive in the fourth quarter or overtime of his career.
