NFL Week 8 Predictions
Written October 29, 2009 by Kyle Hunter
The NFL picks are coming in already for week 8, we’re almost halfway through the regular season. If you want to get started betting on football you should definitely take a look at the unlimited 10% deposit bonus on new signups at Bodog.
The most publicized game of the week will definitely be Brett Favre’s return to Lambeau Field as a member of the Vikings. This should be a very hotly contested game. The Packers out gained the Vikings in their 30-23 loss on October 5th, so we know they can move the football. This time I think the Packers rise up and make just enough plays to win a huge game. Prediction: Packers 24 Vikings 21
The Giants travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. The Giants were cruising along at 5-0, but have now lost 2 in a row. The Eagles and the Giants are even in the loss column, so this game means a whole lot. I think the Giants get back to being a physical football team and pull off a close victory here. Prediction: Giants 21 Philadelphia 17
The Baltimore Ravens are just 3-3 and the Denver Broncos are 6-0. It’s hard to believe, but it is the truth and the Broncos sure seem to be for real. The Ravens will be one of the toughest foes they have played yet, especially on the road. The Ravens defense should be extra amped up for this one. Prediction: Ravens 20 Broncos 13
The Colts are still undefeated on the season and they’ll host the 49ers this Sunday. The San Francisco offense simply hasn’t moved the ball enough of late. Alex Smith is the new starter, but it won’t matter in this one. Prediction: Colts 31 49ers 17
The Dolphins travel to New York to face the Jets in a divisional rivalry game. These two teams often produce some very good games, and this one will likely be the same. The Jets defense should do better stopping the Wildcat this time around. Prediction: Jets 27 Dolphins 21
The Houston Texans are 4-3 and making a push for the playoffs. This week they play the resurgent Bills. Buffalo has won 2 in a row and their defense has been terrific of late. The Texans have a lot of firepower on offense, probably just a little too much for the Bills. Prediction: Texans 27 Bills 20
The Seahawks have disappointed so far this season, but they get a chance for a big win this weekend at Dallas. Dallas looked much better last weekend and I really doubt the Seahawks will be able to keep them out of the end zone very often. Prediction: Cowboys 31 Seahawks 14
The battle of the bad teams takes place in Detroit as the Lions host the Rams, who are still looking for their first win this season. Detroit has shown some improvement this year and Matt Stafford will likely be back, which should be enough. Prediction: Lions 28 Rams 17
The Bears were trounced in Cincinnati last weekend, now they head home to face a weak Cleveland Browns squad. The Bears need to establish their running game that was so strong last season. It might not be pretty, but the Bears should win this one. Prediction: Bears 24 Browns 10
It looks as if Vince Young will start for the Titans Sunday against the Jaguars. The Titans have had an amazing fall from grace after last season’s great start. The Jaguars are a team that is extremely inconsistent. Out of all the football picks, I think this is one I am shakiest about, but I’ll take the Titans. Prediction: Titans 20 Jaguars 17
The Carolina Panthers have been a big disappointment and the Arizona Cardinals are finally getting it together. The Cardinals scored a huge win last weekend and have all the momentum now. The Cardinals defense is susceptible to the pass, but the Panthers can’t throw the ball well. Prediction: Cardinals 31 Panthers 17
The Monday night game pits the Atlanta Falcons against the undefeated New Orleans Saints. The NFL odds show the Saints as 10 points home favorites in this one. The Saints have been great at home, and I don’t think the Falcons can score enough to keep up with the Saints. Prediction: Saints 34 Falcons 20

Got something to say?

Why do you think the Titans will win this weekend? I want to be sure about this pick before I make it. I also am iffy about a few other picks.

Joe,
Picking the Titans to win is a very tough call. The Jaguars are not a team that can be trusted right now, but neither are the Titans. If i had to pick I’d pick the Titans because I think they’ll be able to run the ball, but there are others that I feel much more confident about.

Thanks for the response. The reasoning you gave for the Titans is the exact same one I had with the running game and was the ONLY reason why I would choose them this week. I have a few other picks that I am not too sure about. Green Bay vs. Minnesota is one of them. Jets vs. Dolphins is another I’m not too sure about. Giants and the Eagles I have the Giants but they have lost 2 straight games but the Eagles running game has not been effective much at all this season. The last of the 4 is Baltimore vs. Denver, yea Denver is 6-0 but have they really played any team (other than the Pats and maybe Dallas if you will) with a strong defense? Thanks again.

Joe,
No problem. Just calling it like I see it. The Eagles didn’t impress me at all last week against the Skins and I think the Giants should be able to stop their skid especially if Westbrook isn’t healthy. I’ve been picking against Denver and been wrong several times, but yes I do think Baltimore has the team to beat them. Baltimore’s defense will be the best defense they have faced so far this season.

Do you think the Jets have a decent chance against the Dolphins especially now that half of their running game (Leon Washington) is out? Minnesota’s 6-1 record has my eye and makes me choose them to beat the Packers this Sunday, and obviously because of the running game being stronger. The only thing that I believe will help Green Bay is Minnesota’s below average pass defense. What do you think?

Greene is a good running back himself so the Jets could definitely still do some damage on the ground. The Packers/Vikings game is a tough one to figure out because of the emotional factors involved, but I think there will be plenty of points scored.
