Antonio Nogueira vs. Frank Mir UFC 92 Odds & Predictions
Written December 21, 2008 by Jason Lowry

The UFC has one hell of a fight card lined up for the final big event of the year, as a number of big fights are scheduled to go down this Saturday December 27 at the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 is headlined by the light heavyweight title fight between champion Forrest Griffin and top contender Rashad “Sugar” Evans. Fans also get to see Ultimate Fighter coaches do battle, as Interim World Heavyweight Champion Antonio Nogueira takes on former heavyweight champion Frank Mir. While all the fights are good, the last big fight worth mentioning is the hard hitting Wanderiel “The Axe Murderer” Silva taking on former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Now all 3 fights are worth talking about, but we are going to focus on the big fight between Nogueira and Mir.
Current odds at BetUS.com
Antonio Nogueira -350
Frank Mir +250
Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira (31-4-1)
Nogueira comes in at 32 years of age, and is easily the most decorated MMA heavyweight fighter the sport has ever seen. Nogueira has spent most of his career fighting in PRIDE, but recently has started to fight in the UFC, and has won both his fights, including a submission win over Tim Sylvia earlier this year. Nogueira is one of, if not the best, ground fighters the heavyweight division has ever seen. Nogueira is also known for his ability to absorb pain, and snatch victories when it looks like his destined for defeat. Nogueira isn’t a bad standup fighter and if the fight stays off the ground longer than expected, Nogueira can win it landing punches.
Frank Mir (11-3-0)
Now those of you that have been following the UFC know that Mir was on the fast track to stardom in this sport, as he was terrorizing opponents to start his career, but a motorcycle accident has some questioning if this guy has it upstairs anymore. Now Mir got worked by Brandon Vera back at UFC 65 in Nov. of 2006, but Mir has bounced back with impressive wins over Antoni Hardonk and most recently over Brock Lesnar in Feb. of this year. Now Mir is also a submissions specialist, as he is also arguably one of the best heavyweight ground fighters in the sport. Now with the way that Nogueira just keeps coming at you, we feel like Mir has to land a submission if he is going to pull off the big upset in this one.
Prediction:
In what could be one of the best fights ever to take place on the ground, we like the guy that has been doing it the longest, as Nogueira has over 20 more fights to claim to his credit, and we feel that experience is going to play a big role in this one. Now if Nogueira wasn’t a freak and actually looked like he felt pain, we like what Mir brings to the table in this one, as we feel this guys is going to find a way to get back on the top in this sport, but as far as this fight goes we like Nogueira to find some way to submit Mir during this fight. For those of you looking to do a little UFC betting this weekend, bet Antonio Nogueira -350 at BetUS.com

Got something to say?

Mir is going down in this one. GUARANTEED. And Antonio is beating Lesnar in their fight next year. If I am wrong then you can hunt me and put me in the cage with Couture, Mir, Silva, Lesnar, Emalianenko and let them have a go at me. But that won’t happen because what I am saying is so. damn. true….

Looks like Jason got this one right.

Nogueira against Frank Mir was a joke. If you look at Nogueira’s record and watch his previous fights this was a joke. That fight was pre arranged and I just hope Nogueira made some money because he could not even fake it right. Falling with those Mir’s punches??? Lol Hope Nogueira made some money.
