Odds to Win 2009 Preakness Stakes

The second jewel of the Triple Crown is on Saturday, May 16th 2009 at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland at 6:15 PM EST. You can watch the race live on NBC. Mine That Bird pulled off the second biggest upset in Kentucky Derby history a few weeks ago, and there were some initial thoughts that the horse might not even race in the Preakness. That is not the case though as Mine That Bird (7/2) is one of the favorites heading into this weekend. You also have to watch out for the other horses that hit the board at the Derby, including second place finisher Pioneer of the Nile (6/1) and Musket Man (8/1), who finished in third. If you are going to bet on the Preakness and are looking for a great deal, Bodog is giving out a FREE $100 bonus if you deposit $100!
The wildcard for this weekend’s race though is the filly, Rachael Alexandra (3/2). This is the horse that won the Kentucky Oaks by 20 lengths, a performance that has many people excited about what she can accomplish at Pimlico. At no other time in history has the Oaks winner ran faster than the winner of the Derby, so that should be a good indication of why people are getting ready to throw down on this pony. It will be interesting to see how much action the filly gets as more and more people are jumping on her bandwagon. Could she have won the Derby if she was entered? A lot of pundits beleive so, but the expectations are so high now that the value might be found elsewhere.
