Odds to Win 2009 Masters
Written March 31, 2009 by Jack Jones
Tiger Woods came from behind last week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational to show the world that he is back on track after his knee injury. After that big win he’s once again the favorite to win the first major of the year when the 2009 Masters tees off next week at Augusta. Let’s also take a look at a few other golfers who have a chance to put on a green jacket come Sunday. If you plan on betting the Masters, BetUS will give you a $500 bonus if you deposit $500 in their sportsbook!
Tigers Woods (2/1) – Expect the odds to become even shorter on Tiger after the win last week at Bay Hill in only his third tournament back from his knee injury. The public just loves taking him and why not? He wins almost as much as he loses, which in golf is unbeleiveable.
Phil Mickelson (6/1) – It seems that lefty is striking the ball about as good as he ever has. He’s already won twice this year and looks very comfortable out on the course. He skipped the Arnold Palmer Invitational last week and with the odds that he is getting, bettors should give him a hard look for the Masters.
Padraig Harrington (15/1) – Even though Harrington hasn’t gotten off to a very good start to his 2009 campaign, this guy did win two majors a year ago and at 15/1 odds, should be worth a consideration.
Vijay Singh (30/1) – Very long odds for the guy who won the FedEx Cup a year ago. He’s been struggling this year, but has won at Augusta before. With the long shot odds you are getting for one of the world’s best players, it’s tough not to like Vijay this week.
Retief Goosen (25/1) – Goosen struggled to a 36th place finish at Bay Hill, but has already won once this year. He seems to be returning to the form that led him up the rankings a few years ago to become one of the world’s top players.
Sergio Garcia (18/1) – How close has Garcia come to winning a major in the past? I’m starting to think of this guy like Phil a few years ago, where he just can’t get the monkey off his back and when he does he’ll pick up a couple. Another great player here with some pretty long odds.
Other players to consider: Geoff Ogilvy (15/1) has been playing well this year and has a major under his belt as well. Ernie Els (25/1) has been struggling but at these kind of odds makes it hard not to give him a look.

Got something to say?

Tiger is back! I think people might enjoy this list, since Tiger and Arnold Palmer are both on it. I’m not sure if Byron Nelson’s record of 18 single season records will ever be broken.
