Oklahoma vs Nebraska College Football Odds

The Sooners are currently ranked #20 in the nation. Do not let that ranking fool you as there are not 19 teams better then Oklahoma. With Sam Bradford out for the year, quarterback Landry Jones has filled those shoes quite well throwing for 1,657 yards with 17 touchdowns to six interceptions. Chris Brown and DeMarco Murray are arguably the best running back duo in the nation combining for 975 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Ryan Broyles has been unstoppable this season catching 44 passes for 591 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. Jones has plenty of talent to work with which has made the loss of Heisman winner Sam Bradford very manageable. The biggest improvement though for last year to this season is the defense. The Sooners allow under 13 points per game and field one of the best run stopping defenses allowing only 80 yards on the ground per game. OU travels to Nebraska tonight as 6 point favorites and better be ready to play as the Cornhuskers will throw the kitchen sink at them. The x-factor for the road team will be DT Gerald McCoy. If the soon to be top 5 NFL draft pick can keep the middle exposed then it will force Nebraska to beat them down the field, whether or not they can succeed in doing that is the question. Oklahoma defeated Kansas State 42-30 in their last game. Our current college football odds show that the Sooners are 5.5 point road favorites at Nebraska while the over/under sits at 41.5 points.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are 5-3 this season and have drove handicappers such as myself crazy with their up and down play. Quarterback Zac Lee has thrown for 1,461 yards with 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Starting running back Roy Helu is listed as probable with a shoulder injury. His 668 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground have been a major reason Nebraska has a winning record, if he doesn’t play or plays hurt it can have a big effect on the outcome. The wide receiving core is weak overall. Number one target Niles Paul has collected 413 yards and 3 touchdowns receiving, not exactly the numbers you hope for from the top guy on your depth chart eight games into the season. On the opposite side of the ball Nebraska is as good as any allowing only 11 points per game and 267 yards of total offense. They have one of the best players in the nation and a soon to be top 5-10 pick in Ndamukong Suh. The stud DT has been a force this season as many people feel he is the best defensive player in the nation. Suh will be faced with the tough task of stopping Oklahoma’s rushing attack today. He is good enough cause enough havoc to prevent Brown and Murray from exploding, it will be his teammates that must show up as well. The x-factor for the home Huskers will be their secondary. Landry Jones will have opportunities down the field as Nebraska will be loading the box focused on stopping the run, whether or not the secondary will perform is another thing.
