Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Missouri Tigers Football Picks & Odds
Written October 8, 2008 by Jason Lowry

While Oklahoma vs. Texas will get all the hype this weekend in the Big 12, there is another great game of interest that will be taking place, as the No. 17 Oklahoma State Cowboys head to Missouri to take on the No. 3 ranked Tigers. Both teams come in at a perfect 5-0, but there is no question that Missouri has played the tougher schedule so far. Last week the Tigers played what looked like a solid Nebraska team on the road, and wound up killing them 52-17, as for the Cowboys they continued to play well at home beating Texas A&M 56-28. The oddsmakers aren’t giving the Cowboys much of a chance in this one, as the Tigers are 13.5 point favorites at Bookmaker.com
If you look at the numbers the Cowboys have put up on the offensive side of things, it looks as though they might be able to keep up with the high flying Tigers offense. They have scored 55 or more points in each of their 4 games, but the competition hasn’t been the toughest. Quarterback Zac Robinson continues to play well, as he now has over a 1,000 yards passing, with 10 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. At running back Kendall Hunter has been the workhorse for this offense carrying the ball 101 times this season for 708 yards and 8 touchdowns, but Robinson can run the ball as well, as he had 15 carries for 66 yards and 2 scores last week against the Aggies. Its no secret who Robinson is looking for in the endzone, as 9 of his 10 touchdown have went to receiver Dez Bryant, who had 3 in their last game. With Missouri’s offense playing so good, it will be a must for this unit to keep pace and keep the Cowboys in it.

The Cowboys defense is likely going to see its numbers get a little worse after they play Missouri this weekend, as it doesn’t look like much can stop them. Though the Cowboys did grab two interceptions last week, Missouri quarterback Chase Daniels has just 1 interception on the season. This unit will just have to do its best to contain the Tigers, and try and get them off the field as quick as possible. Also the Cowboys best defense this weekend, could be their offense if they can control the clock and limit Missouri’s chances. Bet Oklahoma State +13.5 at Bookmaker.com
Getting to that offense of the Tigers, they two have scored in the 50’s in every game but one, and it will be tough for anyone to keep this team from scoring its share of points. Daniels has played like a guy who not only wants to win a Heisman but lead his team to a National Championship. Daniels has thrown for 1665 yards and 15 scores, while completing a ridiculous 76% of his passes. Its not like the Tigers just pass the whole game, as running back Derrick Washington has 500 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season, and he was a force against the Cornhuskers running for 139 yards and 2 scores. With the Cowboys capable of putting plenty of points on the board, this unit might get the chance to score 70 points this weekend, but they key will be taking care of the business on hand, and not looking to their next game against Texas.
The defense for the Tigers really showed thats its not all about the offense, when they went to Nebraska and gave up just 17 points. The Tigers continue to get pressure on the quarterback and added 2 more sacks last week, and Brock Christopher took an interception 17 yards to the house to put this game away in the 2nd quarter. This will be the toughest test for the Tigers defense since playing the Fighting Illini in their first game, and if they can force stops this game will likely wind up like the rest.
