Oklahoma Stat vs. Oklahoma Football Betting Odds & Spread

Written November 25, 2008 by Jason Lowry

The big game this weekend is the huge game between No. 5 Oklahoma and No.11 Oklahoma State, as all that stands between the Sooners and a shot at the Big 12 Championship and a Nation Title is a win on the road over the Cowboys. Now the Cowboys only have two losses on the season coming against Texas and Texas Tech, so there is no question this team has the talent to take down mighty Oklahoma, but its hard to imagine they will after the display the Sooners put on against then No. 2 Texas Tech, as Oklahoma destroyed the Red Raiders 65-21. Now for those of you looking to do a little NCAA football betting on this game, the oddsmakers have Oklahoma 7 point favorites on the road over the Cowboys at Bookmaker.com

Now we aren’t taking anything away from the Sooners, but did Texas Tech really have a shot winning on the road last week? We are completely impressed with the Sooners performance, but we think it would of been a lot closer had it been at Texas Tech. But its hard saying the Sooners wouldn’t of walked away with the win, as they put at least 60 points on the board for the 3rd straight week. Sam Bradford was great completing 14 of 19 throws for 304 yards and 4 scores, but the running game was even better as DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown combined to run for 232 yards and 5 touchdowns, as the Sooners did whatever they wanted on the football field last week. Now the Cowboys can score with the Sooners, but its hard thinking anyone can out score the Sooners.

The Sooners defense did what few thought could be done, and that was completely shutdown Graham Harrell and the Texas Tech offense, as the Red Raiders could only score 21 points, and just simply couldn’t make the big plays when it needed. Now Harrell did throw for 3 scores and 361 yards, but it was not the Texas Tech offense we were use to, and all the credit goes to the Sooners defense that held Texas Tech to its lowest offense total by 16 points. Unless the Cowboys have a perfect game and a few tricks up their sleeve its hard to think the Sooners will blow this game. Bet Oklahoma -7 at Bookmaker.com

Now both of Oklahoma State’s losses this season came on the road against top 5 teams, and this week they finally get to show what they can do against a big time team at home, and what a win it would be for the Cowboys if they can pull off the huge upset. Quarterback Zac Robinson was on his game last week against Colorado, as he not only threw for 217 yards and a touchdown, but also added another 61 yards on the ground and another score. Running back Kendall Hunter got in on the fun as well, as he needed just 11 carries to run for 102 yards, including a 43 yard touchdown run that put the Cowboys up for good in the 3rd quarter.

The Cowboys defense played a pretty solid game as well, as they held Colorado to just 3 first half points, and only 14 more the rest of the way. The Cowboys defense didn’t make a lot of big plays in this one, but did a great job of making sure Colorado didn’t have any of its own. This week the defense is going to have to make big plays if it wants to pull off the upset, as the Sooners are just too good to try and hope that they can force them to punt the ball more than a few times in this one.
