Ole Miss Basketball Coach Arrested
Written December 18, 2008 by Jack Jones

It looks like Ole Miss is running into some off the court issues as they head into their game with Louisville tonight. It has been reported that head basketball coach Andy Kennedy has been arrested in Cincinnati for allegedly punching a cab driver and shouting racial slurs at him. The coach was arrested early Thursday and Kennedy’s lawyer quickly filed a written plea of not guilty in Hamilton County Municipal Court. Coach Kennedy is whole heartedly denying the allegations made by the cab driver and is maintaining his innocence. The complain filed by the cab driver specifically states that Kennedy “punched victim with a closed fist while shouting racial slurs.”
A pretrial hearing has been set for January 16th, 2009. Kennedy will coach his team tonight as they take on the No. 9 Louisville Cardinals. The Rebels are 15.5 piont underdogs on a neutral site as the team plays in the SEC/Big East Invitational, but one has to wonder how his players will react to his situation. The school has said that it will address Kennedy’s situation later in the day.
