Oregon State at Arizona Football Betting Lines

Oregon State controls their own destiny this week at Arizona in Pac-10 action. The Oregon State Beavers need to win out to upset USC again this year, this time as the Pac-10 conference champions. The road for the Beavers won’t be easy. They have a tough road contest on the road against Arizona this week, followed by another tough conference game against Oregon next week. Most people had left the Beavers for dead when they lost early to Penn State and then Stanford, but the team rallied back and beat USC. Ever since then Oregon State has been on a roll. We’ll see if they can continue that roll this week against the Arizona Wildcats. Arizona is a 2.5 point favorite at home against Oregon State, the total has been set at 56.5.
The Oregon State offense is no slouch, even compared to some of the high-flying offenses in the conference. The Beavers are averaging 33 points per game and racking up an impressive 416 yards per game. The running game has been particularly effective with Jaquizz Rogers in the backfield, the team is averaging 194 yards per game. Quarterback Lyle Moevao has been out with an injury, but he game back last week and had a solid performance, bringing him to average 218 yards per game this year while completing 62 percent of his passes.
The Beaver defense has been able to get the job done against most opponents Oregon State has faced this season. They are allowing only 21.8 points per game and just 289 yards of total offense. This week they will face a Arizona offense that has been one of the better units in the conference, but, then again, we are talking about the team that was able to defeat USC this season. The Beavers are 2.5 point underdogs this week and need a win to keep up with USC for the conference title.
Offensively this Arizona team is scary to opposing defenses. They are posting just under 40 points per game on 413 yards of total offense. It isn’t like they are one-dimensional, either. They are posting 240 yards per game through the air and 172 yards per game on the ground. The Wildcats are already bowl-eligible, but they’d love a big win over a team like Oregon State to improve their resume. The offense’s ability to move the ball against a stingy Oregon State defense will be a major deciding factor in the game.
Arizona’s defense has been good for the most part this year. They are giving up only 23 points per game and 307 yards of total offense, but they did have a poor showing last week against Oregon, who racked up over 500 yards of total offense on them. This week the Wildcats will get a heavy dose of offense from the air and on the ground, but if they are able to stop one or the other, they can squash Oregon State’s hopes of a Pac-10 title.
Arizona will be tough at home this week. Oregon State has everything to lose in this game, but they keep finding ways to win games and their win against USC this year gave them confidence to spare. It wouldn’t be a huge upset if the Arizona won the game, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Beavers walk away one step closer to a Pac-10 title either.
