Oregon State at Arizona State Betting Lines

The Oregon State Beavers and Arizona State Sun Devils are two teams coming off crushing losses. The Beavers were beaten at home by Arizona by a final of 32-37 last Saturday, and the Sun Devils lost on a last-second field goal in a valiant effort at Georgia, 17-20. Which team has what it takes to bounce back this weekend? NCAA football odds tell us that the Devils are supposed to win, listing Arizona State -5 over Oregon State with a Total Set of 45 points.
The Beavers will have to overcome a rough history if they are to prove victorious Saturday. Oregon State has lost in 17 straight visits to Tempe, with their last win coming in 1969. They have also started the last three seasons at 2-3, and with a 2-2 record right now, they have that weight on their shoulders as well. No team in Pac-10 history has ever come back from an 0-2 deficit in conference play to win the title, as the Beavers are 0-1 in Pac-10 play after losing to Arizona last week. The truth is that this team isn’t far from being 4-0 this season. They were down 21-15 in the fourth quarter against Cincinnati and inside the Bearcats’ 5-yard line, but couldn’t capitalize. They moved the ball into Arizona territory last week with less than two minutes to play trailing by a field goal, but an interception sealed the deal. The Beavers will have to overcome a lot of dreaded history in this one, to say the least.

Arizona State would like to extend their home winning streak against Oregon State to 18 games Saturday. The Sun Devils will also be playing with revenge in mind, having lost at OSU 25-27 last year. The Pac-10 is wide open this year, and this is the conference opener for ASU so they’d like to get off to a fast start. The Sun Devils aren’t the same offensive team they used to be, but their defense is good enough to keep them in about every game. They held Georgia to just 334 total yards and 20 points last Saturday, losing on a last-second field goal after entering the 4th quarter ahead 17-14. The Sun Devils have a great shot to start 3-0 in conference play with Washington State and Washington looming after OSU. The key to the Sun Devils so far is their plus-10 turnover margin, which is good for the top spot among Pac-10 teams. They’ll need to make more plays on defense and take care of the ball offensively to come away with the win Saturday.
