Oregon State v. TCU Odds

Written by -

This Saturday the No.22 ranked Oregon State Beavers will take on the No.7 ranked TCU Horned Frogs. The game will be played on a neutral field at Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX, but there is no question that the Horned Frogs will have the majority of the fan support in this one.

TCU finished the 2009 season at 12-1, with their only loss coming against a very good Boise State team in the Fiesta Bowl. The Horned Frogs will once again look to finish the regular season with a perfect record, and possibly get a shot at the National Championship game.

Oregon State is coming off a pretty solid 8-5 run in 2009, as they finished tied for second in the Pac-10 at 6-3. The Beavers will also be a very experienced team in 2010, as they bring back 15 starters from last season. There isn’t much that separates the top nine teams in the Pac-10 this season, and there is no question that the Beavers have an outside shot at taking home the conference title.

If you are looking to bet on the game this weekend, BetUS has the Horned Frogs 13.5 point favorites over the Beavers with the total currently sitting at 50.5.

The Beavers will look to get running back Jacquizz Rodgers going early and often in this one, as Rodgers should once again be the focal point of the offense after rushing for 1,440 yards with 21 touchdowns in 2009. It will be interesting to see how sophomore quarterback Ryan Katz looks in his first career start, as he takes over for 2009 starter Sean Canfield.

The Horned Frogs have been one of the best defensive teams in the nation the past two seasons, and should once again be very solid on that side of the ball with seven starters returning. Last year they allowed just 80 yards a game on the ground, so they should be able to at least slow Rodgers down. The Horned Frogs also have a ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball, led by senior quarterback Andy Dalton, who threw for 2,758 yards with 23 touchdowns to just eight interceptions in 2009.

Looking at the Odds: TCU has been extremely tough to beat on their home field, as they are 43-5 at home since 2002. In that same time period the Beavers are just 18-23 on the road. The Beavers however are 23-9 in their last 32 games against the spread, and I will call for them to cover the 13.5 point spread in this one, but I still believe TCU ends up winning this game. I also will call for the game to go under the 50.5 point total, as I think this will be a defensive battle from the start, as TCU has struggled to put a ton of points up against BCS schools.
