Oregon v. USC Football Predictions & Betting Line

Written October 2, 2008 by Jay Todd

Both teams enter this weekends games coming off two completely different performances. USC looked horrible in a loss against a below average Oregon State team, and Oregon looked great on both sides of the ball beating Washington State 63-14. Look for that great play to continue this week against USC. The Trojans are 16.5 point spread favorites over Oregon with the total set at 56.

Oregon’s rushing attack has been one of the most dangerous in the country this year. The combination of LeGarrette Blount and Jeremiah Johnson has been arguably the best running back tandem so far this year. Blount and Johnson have combined for 921 yards and 14 touchdowns. That is an average of over 184 yards and almost three rushing scores per game. Look for these two to run all over the USC defense. Against Oregon State, USC allowed 186 yards and two touchdowns to Jacquizz Rodgers. Look for Oregon to run early and often, keeping the ball out of USC’s hands. This will help shorten the game, and allow the Ducks to cover this spread.

With Oregon’s rushing attack and a passing game that won’t turn the ball over, look for the Ducks to really shorten this game. Play Oregon +16.5 over USC.
