Packers at Bears NFL Betting Lines
Written by Kyle Hunter
The Packers and the Bears both were 4-4 after their first 8 games of the season, but in the last 4 games the Packers have gone 4-0 and the Bears have gone just 1-3. Green Bay defeated Baltimore and Dallas at home, while Chicago was pummeled by Minnesota and lost to both San Francisco and Philadelphia. There is definitely not a lot of love between the Packers and the Bears, so expect a hard hitting affair in the Windy City on Sunday. If the Bears are to have any remote chance of making the playoffs they must win. If you’d like to receive up to $100 free to bet on football, just sign up for a new account at SportsInteraction.
The Green Bay Packers have been led by the brilliant quarterback play of Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers has thrown 25 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions on the season and has a completion percentage of 65.4%. Rodgers has definitely jumped into the list of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season. The Green Bay rushing attack has been a little inconsistent this year, but they have been great through the air. The offense ranks sixth in the NFL in total yards and seventh in total points scored. In Donald Driver and Greg Jennings the Packers have two very good wide receivers and Jermichael Finley has burst onto the scene at tight end as well. While the offense has been good the number one reason for the success of the Packers has been their defense. The defense is first in the NFL in total yards allowed at just 273.5 per game. The defense is a ball-hawking group led by Charles Woodson, who is having probably the best year of his great career. Opposing quarterbacks beware, this Packers defense can really fly to the ball.
The Bears had high hopes for this season after the offseason acquisition of Jay Cutler, but things haven’t gone quite as planned. Most preseason NFL predictions for the Bears had them being a better team than they are. Cutler has had a pretty poor year, with 20 interceptions through just 12 games. While Cutler has been disappointing the rushing attack has been non-existent and that hasn’t helped one bit. The Bears are second to last in the NFL in rushing yards per game at just 88 yards. Matt Forte had a great rookie season last year, but he is averaging just 3.4 yards per carry this season. The wide receivers for the Bears haven’t proven themselves as great ones just yet either, so it’s hard to find a real strength on this offense right now. The Bears defense was the best in the NFL a couple of years ago, but they have slipped in a big way this year. Injuries haven’t helped, but it is still puzzling how this Bears defense could be 21st in the league in points allowed at 22.5 points per game.
The NFL odds for this weekend show the Packers as 3 point favorites in this one. The posted total is set at 41 points. Those making NFL picks this weekend should remember that the Packers are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games in Chicago.
The Bears absolutely must establish a running game and get their offense going in this one if they are going to beat the Packers. Keeping Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense off the field and resting their defense will be a huge key. This time of year you’ll want to keep an eye out for the weather when the game is being played at Soldier Field. This one should be a tight game since the Bears play better at home, but the Packers won’t be intimidated since they have had success in Chicago recently.
