Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written December 18, 2008 by Jason Lowry

Things remain tight in the NFC North and this Monday the Chicago Bears will look to keep pace with the Vikings when they take on the Green Bay Packers at home on Monday Night Football. The Bears grabbed a much needed victory last week, as they sneaked out a 27-24 win in overtime against the Saints, while the Packers continued to struggle, as they fell 16-20 at Jacksonville. Now these two teams met up just 5 weeks ago, and the Packers destroyed the Bears 37-3, so its easy to see that it won’t be easy for the Bears to take down their division rival when they need the win more than ever. For those of you looking to do a little NFL betting this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Bears 4 point favorites over the Packers at BetUS.com
Things looked good to start the season for the Packers, but this team has not lived up to expectations and has only 1 win in their last 7 games, but that 1 win was against the same Bears they face this weekend. Now against the Jaguars last week Aaron Rodgers had an okay day throwing the football throwing for 278 yards and a score, but the running game struggled as Ryan Grant had just 56 yards to lead the team on the ground. Now last time against the Bears last time around the Packers offense played pretty well as Rodgers threw for 227 yards on 23 of 30 passing for 2 scores with one interception, while Grant pounded out 145 yards on 25 carries with a score. Now if the Packers are going to come out and play their hardest its going to be against the Bears, but its just hard to imagine they can repeat that same kind of performance this week.
The Packers defense was great against the Bears last time around giving up just 3 points, but this defense hasn’t been that good of late, and last week they let the Jaguars David Garrard pick them apart for 238 yards and 2 scores, but they did do a pretty solid job against the run, allowing just 104 yards and a score on the ground. Now the Packers face a Bears offense that has been hit or miss over the last couple weeks, and you have to think they are going to really try and get rookie Matt Forte going in this one, as Forte only managed 64 yards last time against the Packers. The Bears come into this one rearing and ready to go, as you know this team hasn’t forgot what happened when they played a little over a month ago. Last week the Bears needed everything they had to pull off the win against the Saints, as Robbie Gould first had to hit a 28 yard field goal in the final seconds of regulation to send it to overtime, and then was called upon to hit the game winning field goal from 35 yards out in overtime. The Bears offense didn’t do much in this one, as Kyle Orton had just 172 yards passing with two interceptions, and Matt Forte led the way rushing with just 34 yards on 11 carries, but did manage to find the endzone. Now the Bears offense needs to snap out of this little funk or it could be season over in Chicago.
The Bears defense did what it needed to do last week, and that was help this team get the victory. They did a pretty solid job against Drew Brees and company, as they allowed the leagues best passer to throw for just 232 yards with 2 scores and 2 interceptions. The Bears did struggle to stop the run in this one, as Pierre Thomas had 87 yards on 22 carries with a score, as the Saints ran for nearly a 120 in this one. Now we already mentioned the struggles this unit had against the Packers offense last time around, but you have to think you are going to get a much better performance on this side of the football in front of the home crowd.
