Packers at Browns Spread

The Green Bay Packers travel to take on the Cleveland Browns this Sunday at 1:00 EST. Green Bay is coming off a 26-0 blowout home win over Detroit, while Cleveland is off a 14-27 road loss at Pittsburgh. The Browns offer the second straight last-place opponent within their division the Packers have faced in as many weeks, and NFL odds have listed Green Bay -9 over Cleveland with a Total Set of 41 points.

Aaron Rodgers completed 29-of-37 passes for 358 yards and 2 touchdowns in their win over the Lions last Sunday, continuing to show that he is one of the best at his position in the league. The Packers’ defense held Detroit to just 149 yards of offense, 0-for-10 on third downs and they picked off Daunte Culpepper 3 times. The Packers’ offensive line did not protect Rodgers very well, though, giving up 5 sacks for the game. The line has allowed 25 sacks this season, which is by far a league-worst. Behind Ryan Grant, the Packers have suffered several injuries at running back which prompted them to sign Ahman Green earlier this week. Green had previously rushed for more than 8,000 yards and 53 touchdowns in his time with Green Bay, sitting as the team’s second leading rusher in the history of the franchise.

Cleveland has several problems of their own, mostly due to the flu bug. 12 players had to sit out practice this week, including 5 starters. Their leading tackler, D’Qwell Jackson, is going to miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. The Browns sit at 1-5 right now, and they managed just 197 yards of total offense in Sunday’s loss to the Steelers. After going 2-for-17 in their 6-3 win over Buffalo the week prior, Derek Anderson came back with another putrid 9-for-24 performance against the Steelers. Cleveland ranks 31st in the league in Total Offense, and 30th in Total Points and first downs. Their offense will have to get it going if they are to hang with this high-powered Packers’ offense Sunday.
