Packers vs. Colts Odds
Written by Jason Lowry

After struggling all season long the Indianapolis Colts finally looked like a Super Bowl contender last week when they beat up on the Ravens 31-3. On the other hand the Green Bay Packers started off the season looking great, but 3 straight losses had many fans wondering where this team was headed. Last week the Packers got headed back in the right direction when they went into Seattle and beat the Seahawks 27-17. This week the Packers (3-3) host the Colts (3-2) in what should be a great AFC vs NFC battle. The oddsmakers also think this one will be a close one, as they have the Colts 2 point favorites on the road over the Packers.
The Colts offense came out firing last week against a defense that had played as good as anyone all season long. Peyton Manning hit both Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne early for scores, and while Harrison ended up leading the way with 2 scores, Wayne was the go to guy catching 8 balls for 118 yards. The Colts did lose Joseph Addai in the first quarter with a hamstring injury, but they got a great game out of backup Dominic Rhodes who ran it 25 times for 73 yards and a score. There is hope that Addai will be ready to go this week against the Packers, but if not they should be just fine with Rhodes. If this was the sign of things to come for this Colts offense, than other teams better take notices real fast, as the Colts could become the team to beat.
Another thing that has to scare teams, is the Colts were finally able to shutdown the run, even with Bob Sanders still sidelined. The Ravens came in with one of the best rushing attacks, but were able to manage just 51 yards on the ground. While rookie Joe Flacco threw for 241 yards on the defense, the Colts had the last laugh intercepting him 3 times. The Packers offense looks as though it might be starting to click again as well, so expect a much tougher challenge this week for the Colts.
The Packers have to like what they are seeing so far out of Aaron Rodgers, as he shows he has a little Favre in him doing whatever it takes and playing through pain in order to lead the Packers to victory. Last week Rodgers did just that throwing for 208 yards and 2 scores while completing 21/30 passes, and had 23 yards on the ground including a 1 yd touchdown run. The Packers continue to try to work Ryan Grant into the picture, and he responded last week running it 33 times for 90 yards. Greg Jennings continues to emerge as one of the better receivers in the league, as he had another big day going for 84 yards, including a 45 yard touchdown bomb from Rodgers. Look for the Packers to test that Colts run defense again this week with Grant, and see if they can’t beat that Colts secondary deep.
The Packers defense really played well against the Seahawks considering all the injuries they are fighting through, as they held the Seahawks to just 83 yards through the air, and only 44 yards on the ground. The defense also created turnovers in this one, and Charles Woodson added another interception to keep him on pace with the league leaders. Don’t expect those kind of numbers against Manning and the Colts, but you have to like the way this defense is coming together. The team might get safety Atari Bigby back this weekend, but he still remains questionable.
Got something to say?
