Delhomme Put on IR

In the latest news surrounding the Carolina Panthers, ESPN is reporting that quarterback Jake Delhomme is being put on the season-ending injured reserve list. Delhomme has been sidelined by a broken finger on his throwing hand since initially hurting it against the Jets back in week 12.
In many ways the season couldn’t have ended any faster for Delhomme, as he was in the middle of one of his worst seasons of his career. Delhomme’s struggles stem back to the ugly playoff last year against the Arizona Cardinals, where he turned the ball over six times. Still the Panthers though highly enough of the quarterback to extend his contract in the offseason, but that could be old news as the Panthers might decide they are better off without him.
Looking at the NFL spreads for week 16, the Panthers head into action as seven-point underdogs against the New York Giants. Last week backup and now starter Matt Moore put on an impressive performance against the Minnesota Vikings, as the Panthers stunned the NFC North leaders 26-7. Moore was very impressive in the win, throwing for a career-high 299 yards and three touchdowns. If Moore continues to play at this level, it will make it much easier for the Panthers to cut ways with Delhomme.
