Carolina Panthers vs. New York Giants NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written December 18, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This Sunday Night the NFL is giving fans one heck of a game to watch, as the two best in the NFC do battle for the No.1 one spot heading into the playoffs. So get ready for one heck of a game when the NFC South leading Carolina Panthers travel to New York to take on the NFC East leading Giants. Last week the Panthers took care of business for the 3 straight week, as they beat up on the Broncos 30-10. The Giants on the other hand didn’t look so good, as the Cowboys took home a 20-8 win at home. For those of you looking to do a little NFL betting this on the big game this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Giants 3 point favorites at home over the Panthers at BetUS.com
The Panthers offense is really rolling over the last 3 weeks, as DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart have really got the running game going. Last week against the Broncos Williams carried it 12 times for 88 yards including a 56 yard run that went for a score. Stewart pounded his way for 52 yards and a score on 16 carries. Now Jake Delhomme has been hit or miss this season, and last week he was pretty good throwing for 253 yards on 17 of 26 passing. Now the Giants are going to try and put a ton of pressure on Delhoome, so it will be interesting to see how he responds to that pressure, but it will be more about whether the Giants can stop the rushing attack of Williams and Stewart.
The Panthers defense had a rough start to the game last week, allowing the Broncos to score 10 points in the opening quarter, but the defense turned it on and didn’t let the Broncos score the rest of the way, and the Panthers finished their perfect season at home. The defense wasn’t able to get much pressure on Jay Cutler last week, as they didn’t record a single sack in this one, but the defense did force a fumble and an interception to win the turnover battle. The key will be stopping Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, if he is able to come in healthy to the game this weekend. Bet Carolina Panthers +3 at BetUS.com
The New York Giants are in the playoffs and at least have bye locked up, but this team has lost two straight and you have to think this team wants to get things going with the postseason just a couple weeks away. Last week the Giants offense really struggled to get much going, as they were only able to put up two field goals and a safety against the Cowboys. The running game really struggled to get things going, as Ward led the rushing attack with just 64 yards, and that in turn led to a pretty rough day for Eli Manning who threw for just 191 yards with 2 interceptions and was sacked 8 times in the game. Now this team is much better with Jacobs in the lineup, and if he is able to go full speed this weekend it really makes this offense better.
The Giants defense played pretty well last week, as the Cowboys were only up 7-3 heading into the 4th quarter, but the defense likely wore down and wound up giving up two touchdowns in the final quarter of play. The defense was able to land 3 sacks of their own, as they landed a number of hard shots on Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Now getting that same kind of pressure will be big this week, but more than anything they have to slow down the Panthers rushing attack, or this team could be looking at their 3rd straight loss and the Panthers will be the team with home field all the way to the Super Bowl.
