Panthers vs Falcons NFL Recap Week 2 In a huge, early NFC South showdown in Week 2, the Carolina Panthers visited the Atlanta Falcons this past Sunday. His 1-yard TD run with 13:23 to go in the fourth quarter put the Falcons up 28-13, but it wasn’t quite over just yet.

Jake Delhomme bounced back nicely for the Panthers, completing 25-of-41 passes for 308 yards and a touchdown. But he did have one huge mistake, an interception with about 2 ½ minutes remaining down in the Atlanta red zone. The defending NFC South champions are now 0-2 to start the season, and the trend of John Fox’s teams has been that they’ll have one good year followed up by a poor one. That trend hasn’t changed this season, though they’ve faced two tough opponents in the Eagles and Falcons. Carolina has the league’s toughest schedule, but still they have been very sloppy in the early going and it’s not going to get any easier. Steve Smith was a bright spot Sunday, catching 8 balls for 131 yards and he continues getting it done despite facing double-teams almost every game.
