Super Bowl Odds: Willie Parker Props
Written January 29, 2009 by Jason Lowry

With the Pittsburgh Steelers all set to take on the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl this weekend, we thought it would be a good idea to take a little closer look at some of the prop bets facing some of the players. We are going to focus on the Steelers main rusher Willie Parker, as he is expected to get a huge workload against the Cardinals. The Steelers were really counting on a big season from Parker, but due to nagging injuries he played just 11 games and had just 791 yards and 5 touchdowns during the regular season. It has been a different story for Parker in the playoffs, as he has ran for 193 yards and 2 scores in two playoff games. Though Parker struggled against the Ravens in the AFC Championship game, we expect a big game this weekend. For those of you looking to do a little NFL betting on the game this weekend, here is a look at the prop bets facing Willie Parker at Sportsbook.com.
Total Rushing Yards: Over 83.5 (-115) Under 83.5 (-115)
We really think that if the Steelers are going to come in and dominate this game like so many think they are going to, Parker and the Steelers running game has to have a big day. If the Steelers can run the ball they can control the clock and most importantly keep Warner and the Cardinals high flying offense off the field. We think Parker breaks a 100 yards in this one, so take the over and cash in on this prop bet.
Longest Rush from Scrimmage: Over 16.5 (-105) Under 16.5 (-125)
This is a little tougher bet to make, and while we think Parker is going to have a big day on the ground, we think he is going to do it by grinding out 4-5 yards on a number of carries. So we are going to say Parker stays under the 16.5 on this one.
Total Rushing Attempts: Over 20.5 (-145) Under 20.5 (+115)
In two playoff games Ward has ran the ball 51 times, including 24 attempts against the Ravens when he struggled to get much of anything going. If there is one prop bet you make on the Super Bowl, its this one, as Parker easily runs it 25 times in this one.
Will He Score a Touchdown: Yes (-115) No (-115)
Parker scored twice against the Chargers in the Steelers first playoff game, and though he didn’t score against the Ravens defense, he Cardinals don’t have near the talent that the Ravens had on the defensive side of things. The Cardinals haven given up a rushing touchdown in 2 of their 3 playoff games, and with the way the Steelers like to pound it in the red zone, we got Parker scoring at least once, maybe twice.
Total Rushing Yards on First Attempt: Over 3.5 (Even) Under 3.5 (-130)
This is pretty much a coin flip, as its hard telling exactly what the Steelers are going to do on their first series. We think that they keep it simple and try a rush on the first play, and we expect the Cardinals to be ready. We say under 3.5, but this could really go either way.
